Nepal English Language Teachers' Association (NELTA), Karnali Province conducted its 9th meeting on October 21, 2024 (Kartik 5, 2081) under the chairmanship of Mr. Dhani Ram Sharma, President of NELTA Karnali in the presence of advisors Mr. Netra Prasad Chalise and Mr. Khagendra Thapa, executive body of NELTA Karnali, branch representatives and some NELTA life members. The meeting, moderated by Mr. Betendra Kumar Dahal, the General Secretary, discussed and decided the key developments and plans for the organization.

A Virtual Training of Trainers (TOT) for the trainers of NELTA Karnali Province commenced on September 12, 2024, under the chairmanship of Mr. Dhaniram Sharma, President of NELTA Karnali Province. The training, conducted on September 12, 15, and 16, was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Laxman Gnawali, President of NELTA, with an engaging session on "Scaffolding Tasks in Virtual Training."
The event accomplished with the presence of prominent figures, including Dr. Bishnu Kumar Khadka, Immediate Past President of NELTA Karnali, as the Special Guest along with the guests Mr. Betendra Kumar Dahal, General Secretary of NELTA Karnali; Mr. Dal Bahadur Shahi, Chair of NELTA Surkhet; Mr. Dabal Budha, Chair of NELTA Dailekh; and Mr. Shankar Kumar Rawal, Chair of NELTA Rukum West.
Prof. Dr. Laxman Gnawali graced the event as the Chief Guest, providing insightful remarks on the significance of effective virtual training in contemporary education. The program was moderated by Mr. Nab Raj Poudel, Training Coordinator of NELTA Karnali, ensuring smooth proceedings throughout.
A total of 18 trainees participated in the training, enhancing their skills to deliver quality education and training in virtual environments.

Empowering Educators in the Karnali Province: KU and NELTA host an Interactive Teacher Education Programme

Kathmandu University, School of Arts, in Collaboration with NELTA (Nepal English Language Teachers’ Association) Karnali Province and NELTA Surkhet organized a highly Interactive Teacher Education Programme at Siddhartha Hotel on Friday, May 10, 2024 (Baishakh 28, 2081).
The program covered "Academic Writing: Writing (Journal Articles) for Wider Audience" by Kashi Raj Pandey, Associate Professor, KU's Department of Languages and Mass Communication; "Media Literacy and Critical Thinking" by Dr. Sudhamshu Dahal, Associate Professor, KU's Department of Languages and Mass Communication; "Integrated Teaching and Learning through Art based activities" by Sagar Manandhar, Assistant Professor: KU, Department of Art + Design; and, "Ethnomusicology: Bringing local music traditions in Classrooms" by Raj Kumar Manandhar, Lecturer: KU, Department of Music.
All sessions witnessed active participation from 51 educators representing various districts of the Province. With a welcome speech by Mr. Dal Bahadur shahi (chair of NELTA Surkhet), Dr. Ram Chandra Paudel gave the opening remarks. Run by Mr. Betendra Kumar Dahal General secretary of NELTA Karnali and chaired by Mr. Dhani Ram Sharma (president of NELTA Karnali Province) and facilitated by Mr. Bishnu Kumar Khadka (the immediate past Central Committee member of NELTA), the programme aimed at enhancing pedagogical practices and professional development among educators. Participants engaged in interactive sessions led by experienced facilitators, who shared innovative methodologies for effective teaching and learning.
The participating teachers welcomed the event as a significant step towards enriching quality education in the region, also expressing gratitude to Kathmandu University for such an invaluable initiative. They were excited to continue such collaboration in the future and conduct similar impactful programmes that aim at empowering the teachers from places that are far from the Capital city, Kathmandu.
