🌅 Chhath Mahaparv: Beyond Borders, Beyond Labels 🌅

Chhath is not just a festival — it’s a centuries-old tradition of faith, purity, and gratitude toward Surya Bhagwan (the Sun God) and Chhathi Maiya. Its roots go back to ancient times — even to the era of Lord Ram and Sita, when Sita is believed to have performed Chhath rituals in the land of Mithila after returning from exile.

That’s why Mithilanchal — the land that spans both Bihar (India) and the Terai region of Nepal — is deeply woven into the history of Chhath. The festival has always been celebrated along the rivers and ponds of Mithila, from Sitamarhi to Siraha, from Madhubani to Janakpur. It’s not a modern import or a regional identity — it’s our shared heritage.

Yes, Bihar has carried the pride of Chhath beautifully, but to say it belongs only to Bihar is to forget the cultural heart that beats across borders.
In the Terai of Nepal, too, Chhath is celebrated with the same devotion, the same fasting, the same arghya to the setting and rising sun — only our stories, songs, and rivers differ slightly.

For us in the Terai, Chhath is not a borrowed emotion — it’s our lived tradition, our mothers’ songs, our rivers’ reflection, and our community’s light.
Let’s remember and remind others: faith knows no borders, and culture cannot be confined by maps. 🙏🌞

Despite being one of the richest countries in water resources, many regions still face severe shortages of clean drinking water and water for agriculture. This paradox highlights the deep-rooted issue of political corruption and poor governance.

Countries blessed with abundant rivers, lakes, and underground water should, in theory, have no difficulty providing water to their people. However, when corruption enters the system, resources are mismanaged, budgets are misused, and development projects remain incomplete or poorly executed. Funds meant for water supply infrastructure often get diverted or embezzled. Contracts are awarded to unqualified companies based on political favoritism or bribes, resulting in substandard work.

In rural areas, farmers struggle to irrigate their lands, leading to crop failures and economic hardship. In cities, citizens are forced to rely on expensive bottled water or irregular tanker supplies, often controlled by black-market mafias linked to corrupt officials.

This situation is not due to a lack of resources but a failure of leadership and accountability. Without strong laws, transparency, and political will, even the richest natural wealth cannot ensure a basic human right like access to clean water.

To overcome this, it is essential to demand transparent governance, investment in water infrastructure, and strict action against corrupt practices, so that the nation's natural water wealth truly benefits its people.
