πŸ”Ή Definition: The digestive system is responsible for the ingestion, digestion, absorption, and assimilation of food, followed by egestion of undigested waste.

✨ Main Parts & Functions:

1️⃣ Mouth – Ingestion, chewing (mastication), mixing with saliva (salivary amylase β†’ starch β†’ maltose).
2️⃣ Pharynx & Esophagus – Passage of food via swallowing & peristalsis.
3️⃣ Stomach – Gastric juice (HCl + pepsinogen β†’ pepsin) starts protein digestion. Food becomes chyme.
