Today I want to share something meaningful that happened recently.
Today I met someone very special through my mentor brothers, who he used to often give as an example in our conversations. Due to a recent opportunity, we finally got the chance to meet him in person — Mr. Bishnu Raj Adhikari, the founder of Kathmandu College of Management (KCM).
I was genuinely excited, as I had heard a lot about him over time — about his guidance, leadership, and the strong brand identity he has built for KCM throughout the years. This meeting happened through my mentor Aditya Dai, who is also a KCM alumnus from many years back, and through him I got the chance to visit the college and meet Sir.
When I entered Kathmandu College of Management, the environment itself gave a strong impression — students were actively engaged everywhere, and the whole campus felt energetic and busy in a very positive academic way. It really felt like a place where students are constantly doing something meaningful.
When I met Bishnu Sir, the founder of KCM, I felt very positive energy from his presence. The way he speaks, the way he delivers his thoughts, and his confidence were truly inspiring. We sat in his office along with a few senior alumni as well, making us around six people in total including us.
During the discussion, we talked about various important topics such as the current education system in Nepal, how the government is working, and also international education systems. Bishnu Sir also shared valuable insights about education systems in countries like Australia, the USA, and Thailand, as well as the situation of foreign-affiliated colleges in Nepal. We also discussed credit transfer systems, which was very informative and helpful.
From my side, I felt really happy and grateful to have this opportunity, especially as I am not a student of KCM but have always heard it being mentioned as one of the top colleges in Nepal. One thing that also stood out was his strong confidence when asked about competitors of KCM in Nepal — he clearly expressed his belief that there is no direct competitor, which itself reflects the confidence built through years of experience and contribution.
This meeting personally inspired me a lot. It gave me a deeper understanding of premium value creation, strong branding, leadership mindset, and how an educational environment shapes students. The overall vibe of KCM and the way things are managed there really left an impression on me.
During the visit, I also saw historical and meaningful elements inside the college, including gallery photos of Late Prince Nirajan Bir Bikram Shah Dev in the library, and I came to know that he was also part of the Kathmandu College of Management (KCM) family.
To be clear, I am not sharing this to promote KCM or any institution. I am sharing this purely because I learned a great lesson from meeting Bishnu Raj Sir and experiencing the environment there.
From my early journey in Kathmandu after +2, I have met many CEOs, business people, college heads, and collaborated with many individuals. But today’s meeting felt different — it was more about learning, understanding brand value, confidence, and the kind of culture an institution builds over time.
Thank you Bishnu Raj Sir for giving us your valuable time and insights.
