Important Update for EB-3 Immigrant Visa Applicants (Effective January 21, 2026)

There has been growing concern and misinformation regarding the EB-3 immigrant visa program. This post is to clarify the facts and help EB-3 applicants understand what is actually happening.

Effective January 21, 2026, the U.S. Department of State has paused the issuance of immigrant visas for nationals of 75 countries.
This is a temporary pause, not a ban, and not permanent.

What this means for EB-3 applicants:

EB-3 processes through the Department of Labor (DOL) — including ETA 9089 / PERM Labor Certification — continue as normal

USCIS processing, including I-140 petitions, remains unaffected

Only the final immigrant visa issuance at U.S. embassies/consulates is paused.

Important reassurance:
👉This is NOT a permanent restriction
👉The pause can be lifted at any time

For those already in the EB-3 process, there is no need to panic. Continue your case as planned and rely only on official updates from the Department of State, DOL, and USCIS.
