A significant leadership transition took place today at IOE Pashchimanchal Campus during a special ceremony chaired by Campus Chief Dr. Gopal Prasad Ghimire. The event served a dual purpose: welcoming a new administrative team and expressing deep gratitude to outgoing leaders and staff. The program commenced with a warm welcome address by former Campus Chief Nirmal Prasad Baral, setting a tone of continuity and institutional pride.
We are proud to announce the formal appointment of our new Assistant Campus Chiefs: Er. Rajesh Bhattarai (Academic), Er. Hari KC (Planning & Resource Management), and Er. Shacheendra Kishor Labh (Administration). As they step into these vital roles, the campus community looks forward to their vision and leadership in driving our institution toward further excellence.
The ceremony also marked a heartfelt farewell to our outgoing Assistant Campus Chiefs, Er. Homnath Tiwari, Dr. Harisharan Adhikari, and Er. Roshan Kumar Shrestha. We thank them sincerely for their dedication and the milestones achieved during their tenure. Additionally, we honored Mr. Khadananda Upadhayaya (Office Assistant), who has reached compulsory retirement age. We wish him a peaceful and fulfilling retirement after his years of loyal service. The entire program was efficiently conducted by Administration Section Chief Khem Bahadur Pulami.

The Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering at IOE Pashchimanchal Campus, coordinated by HoD Er. Hom Nath Tiwari, successfully organized a technical session on "Digital Transformation & Industry 4.0 using AI-Driven Intelligent and Scalable Systems." Campus Chief Dr. Gopal Prasad Ghimire graced the event as Chief Guest, emphasizing the integration of global tech trends into academic discourse.
The keynote address was delivered by the distinguished Prof. Dr. Md. Shamim Akhter, HoD of CSE at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), Bangladesh. An IEEE Senior Member and former JSPS Post-Doctoral Fellow with over 100 international publications, Prof. Akhter shared his profound expertise in AI, Big Data, and parallel processing. He provided a comprehensive look at how scalable systems are revolutionizing modern infrastructure, offering faculty and students a vital platform to engage with research and fostering technical excellence in Nepal.

The Executive Director of the Centre for International Relations (CIR), Prof. Vishnu Prasad Pandey, PhD, conducted a strategic briefing at Pashchimanchal Campus to outline Tribhuvan University’s transition toward a research-intensive model aligned with global standards. Engaging with the Dr. Baburam Dawadi (Assistant Dean, IOE), Campus Chief, Former campus chief, HoDs, DHoDs and Section Chiefs, Prof. Pandey emphasized leveraging CIR’s 200+ global partnerships and the TU Global Initiative to harness diaspora expertise and enhance transnational academic mobility. The consultation focused on integrating departmental research into the international scholarly ecosystem, fostering joint ventures, and elevating the campus’s institutional profile through collaborative excellence and global research synergy.

We are proud to highlight our Mechanical Engineering students' final year project: "Design and Fabrication of a Pesticide Spraying Drone in Nepal." Built specifically for small-scale farmers, this drone aims to eliminate the health risks of manual spraying and reduce heavy labor costs. The model features a 14.8V 13000 mAh battery, allowing for a 6-minute flight while carrying 0.5L of pesticide bringing high-tech solutions directly to our fields.

The IOE Pashchimanchal Campus successfully concluded a comprehensive one-day workshop titled "Thesis Writing and Research Communication" Supported by NORHED-II PROJECT specifically designed for graduate students of MSc in Tunnel Engineering and MSc in Infrastructure Engineering & Management. The program, which aimed to enhance the academic research and writing capabilities of the students, was formally inaugurated by the Former Campus Chief, Er. Nirmal Prasad Baral, who emphasized the vital role of a structured thesis lifecycle in post-graduate studies.
Throughout the day, participants engaged in intensive learning sessions led by distinguished subject matter experts. Dr. Sailesh Adhikari provided deep insights into thesis proposal structures and defense strategies, while Dr. Tek Bahadur Katuwal guided the students through the specific TU formats and technical formatting requirements for thesis submission. The final technical session was led by Er. Samrat Paudel, who focused on the art of research article writing, the importance of avoiding plagiarism, and the use of modern citation tools like Mendeley and Zotero. The workshop concluded with a productive feedback session and a summary of key takeaways, leaving the students better equipped to navigate their research journeys and publish their work in reputable journals.

We are immensely proud to welcome back our esteemed faculty members, Dr. Sailesh Adhikari and Dr. Tek Bahadur Katuwal, to the campus family. They have successfully completed their Degree of Philosophiae Doctor (PhD) in Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway.
The research and expertise gained in Rock Engineering through this collaboration between IOE-WRC and NTNU will significantly strengthen our academic excellence and research capabilities in Nepal. Congratulations to both for this remarkable milestone!
