Overhead Bridge in Lalitpur Left Incomplete for Over Two Years, Puts Pedestrians at Risk
Despite being one of the busiest road sections in Lalitpur—stretching from Gwarko through Mahalaxmisthan and Ekantakuna to Kalanki—the overhead pedestrian bridge project remains incomplete even after more than two years.
Concrete pillars have been erected, but no further progress has been made. As a result, pedestrians are forced to cross the road amid high-speed traffic, risking their lives daily. Locals say the situation is dangerous, with no safe alternative available for crossing.
Meanwhile, in Gwarko, a separate overpass has recently been completed and is now in operation, offering some relief to pedestrians in that area.
The delay in completing this essential infrastructure highlights ongoing issues in urban planning and project ex*****on in the Kathmandu Valley.

Travel Advisory: Tika Bhairav–Hetauda Road Section Risky Due to Rainfall
Travelers are urged to exercise extreme caution while using the Tika Bhairav–Hetauda road section, as continuous rainfall has made the route dangerous and unpredictable.
Landslides have been reported in multiple areas between Tika Bhairav and Bhimphedi (Bagmati Bridge), causing vehicles to get stuck or delayed.
Dense fog at night, especially during rainfall, has reduced visibility, making it difficult for drivers to navigate safely.
Between Bhimphedi (Bagmati River) and Makwanpur Gadhi, dry landslides and ongoing road construction are causing further risks. Travelers are advised to stay updated and proceed with proper knowledge of the route.
From Chhapeli to Makwanpur, there is a lack of petrol pumps and repair garages, which can pose challenges in emergencies or breakdowns.
Due to time restrictions on Sindhuli Road—where vehicle movement is banned between 6:00 PM to 5:30 AM because of the Roshi River swelling during monsoon—many travelers are choosing Kanti Lokpath (Tika Bhairav–Hetauda) as an alternative. However, given current conditions, this route should be taken only with preparedness and caution.

Bridge Collapses Before Completion in Ramechhap
Ramechhap, Manthali — A bridge under construction over the Tamakoshi River, connecting wards 6 and 7 of Manthali Municipality, Ramechhap, has collapsed before its completion. One of the four slabs of the bridge suddenly broke down early this morning, causing significant damage to the overall structure.
The bridge was being built to connect the areas of Kunauri and Mugitar. Although it was in its final phase of construction, a sudden slab failure around 7 AM shocked the local community. Fortunately, no human casualties have been reported, but a substantial financial loss is expected.
According to locals, structural weaknesses in the bridge had been visible for several days, but the construction company reportedly ignored their concerns. “We had already warned that the concrete quality didn’t seem right, and today our fears came true,” said one resident.
In an initial statement, the construction company said, “The cause of the collapse could be technical. A detailed investigation will reveal the exact reason.”
The government had allocated approximately NPR 80 million for the project. Following this incident, serious questions have been raised about the quality of the construction work. The District Administration Office has already deployed a technical team to assess the site.
Locals and elected representatives are demanding that those responsible be held accountable and punished. They are also calling for a transparent reconstruction process that takes local concerns into account.

President Trump Confirms U.S. Strikes on Iranian Nuclear Sites, Raising Fears of Regional Escalation
In a bold and risky move, former U.S. President Donald Trump announced Saturday that American forces carried out targeted strikes on three nuclear-related sites in Iran, marking a direct and unprecedented collaboration with Israel in its ongoing efforts to dismantle Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
According to a report from the Associated Press (AP), Trump stated that the strikes were conducted on key locations—Fordo, Isfahan, and Natanz—believed to be central to Iran’s nuclear program. The announcement has immediately raised tensions in the Middle East, with experts warning of potential retaliation from Tehran and a possible spiral into wider conflict.
Iran has yet to officially confirm the strikes. However, Iran's state-run news agency IRNA reported early Sunday that attacks were launched on the aforementioned sites but did not provide further details or casualties. The government in Tehran has remained silent on the extent of the damage or its immediate response plans.
Trump described the operation as a necessary action to “neutralize imminent threats,” framing it as a strategic blow to Iran’s long-standing defiance of international nuclear agreements. The move comes at a time of heightened instability in the region, with proxy conflicts already underway in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen.
International leaders have expressed concern over the growing possibility of a full-scale war in the region. Analysts fear that Iran’s response could include missile strikes, cyberattacks, or targeting of U.S. and Israeli interests abroad.
As tensions rise, calls for diplomatic restraint have emerged from various quarters, urging both sides to avoid plunging the Middle East into deeper chaos.

Pakistan Proposes Donald Trump for Nobel Peace Prize Citing Role in India-Pakistan Ceasefire Talks
In a surprising diplomatic gesture, Pakistan has announced its intention to recommend former U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. The proposal comes in light of Trump’s reported role in facilitating the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan last month, a move Pakistan views as a major contribution to regional peace.
According to Pakistani officials, Trump's behind-the-scenes involvement played a critical role in defusing escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. The ceasefire, which marked a significant step back from the brink of conflict, has been widely welcomed by the international community.
"President Trump demonstrated leadership and a genuine commitment to peace in South Asia," a spokesperson for the Pakistani government said. "His mediation efforts helped create the environment necessary for the two sides to come to the table."
While Trump’s foreign policy, especially in regions like the Middle East and South Asia, has often been controversial, this development has reignited discussions around his unexpected diplomatic interventions.
The Nobel Peace Prize nomination process is complex and involves several steps, including endorsement by qualified individuals or institutions. If officially submitted, this would not be the first time Trump has been considered for the prestigious award; he has previously been nominated by various political figures for his efforts in Korea and the Middle East.
Only time will tell how the Nobel Committee responds, but the announcement has already sparked debate across political and global platforms.

Thai PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra to Resign After Diplomatic Controversy Over 'Uncle' Remark
Bangkok, June 20 – Thailand’s 38-year-old Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra is reportedly set to resign following a diplomatic controversy involving a conversation with Cambodia’s influential leader Hun Sen. The controversy erupted after Shinawatra referred to Hun Sen as “Uncle” during discussions about border dialogue, a term some officials and citizens perceived as informal and disrespectful in a sensitive diplomatic context.
The remark sparked criticism both domestically and internationally, with political analysts noting that such language could be interpreted as undermining Thailand’s official stance in bilateral relations.
Paetongtarn Shinawatra, daughter of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, had taken office amidst hopes for progressive leadership and diplomatic finesse. However, this unexpected situation has reportedly led her to consider stepping down to preserve the dignity of her office and avoid further political tensions.
An official announcement is expected soon.
