One day, my students had a holiday from their regular classes. All of my students had come only for the extra class early in the morning. When class ended, they did not want to return to their home. My students started to ask me to take them somewhere to visit and have fun. I wondered how do I take all of them anywhere alone. So, I asked them if they want to come to my home and play. My students got so excited to come to their Miss's home. All of us walked together to my home. I made tea and lunch for them. We chatted a while and had a good time. This was different experience of being close with my students.

For the first time ever, Changing Stories Nepal is running the Accelerated Learning Courses in two districts at the same time! Here's a small update for all our supporters from our project. We are reaching almost mid-way through our courses in Tulsipur. We have recently completed the baseline tests of the students in Budhanilkantha Municipality for the Round 6 of our project. This would not have been possible without your continuous support and belief in us and the kids. Thank you so much! ❤

2 months ago, we were in Dang with our fellow alumni Barsha taking Baseline Tests for Round 5. We were gathering the students for the test. Just then Bikram - one of the student alumni of previous round came up to us. He was Barsha's student. He kept on asking when will the extra classes begin. He said he would join again. He even requested to let his friends join too.

Kids want to learn if they enjoy the learning environment. We are motivated to help more kids seeing our students learning and progressing one step at a time. Keep your eyes out for New Year 2078 BS. You can celebrate this new year by helping the kids get a chance to get the education they deserve 😇

Story from 2018

"A couple of days ago I got a call from Rupak, one of my students from last year. I hadn't talked to him since the course ended almost 7 months ago. I was so happy to hear his voice again. When I picked up the first thing he said was "Miss, I passed!". He and his mom were so happy with the result from his exam that they had decided to call me to share the news. It was so good to hear his voice in the first place, and the news made me even happier!"⠀⠀- Ashmita Katiwada, CS Nepal Fellow 2018

Rupak used to find ways to exchange his copies for toys! He couldn't read a word of Nepali at the beginning of the courses. When we went back to test students 7 months after the courses ended Rupak could read a whopping 22 words per minute 😀

For most of our fellows, the fellowship opportunity is their first-ever job. We asked our fellows, what do they plan to do with their first income. Here is what our fellow has to say.

"I want to call home and share the news of my first income. But I will keep the news secret for now. I am going back home for a vacation within few months. I will buy a wristwatch for mom and dad. I do not want to spend the remaining amount. Since this is my first earning, it is really special to me. I want to spend it on something very memorable or not spend at all."

We believe education is the way out for people to improve their living standards. It is the way out from intergenerational poverty and missed opportunities. You have been playing your part to uplift a child’s chances of having a better life than the ones lived by their parents. Thank you for your continuous support!

Kids love it when they have something to share with their parents about school. It can be a VERY GOOD marked in their homework by their teacher or a new pencil won as a reward. Every kid deserves to experience these little joys of going to school and learning.

You can support our kids with their education. Every small contribution matters.

You can contribute through ESewa or Mobile Banking.

Narayan is quite naughty in my class. He is also very attentive and tries to sit near me. One day during lunch break, he was hesitating to face me. I noticed his eyes were teary. He said, “Sorry Miss, it won’t happen again.” I had no idea why he had cried and why he was apologizing.

I went to my co-fellow Kavita and asked if she knew what is up with Narayan. She said that before we arrived at school, he went to Kavita’s class and hit a student there. The student complained about him to Kavita. Narayan had come back to my class and was involved in classroom activities like he had not done anything. Kavita called him outside during the lunch break. She did not scold Narayan. She just asked politely, “Do you know your action could make a bad impression for your Ramba Miss? You are her student, she will have to face consequences if you misbehave. Will you hit other students again Narayan?” Then he started crying with guilt in front of her. He went to Kavita’s student and apologized. After that, he had come back to my class and apologized to me.

At that moment, I got so emotional. I remembered him apologizing to me with red teary eyes. He was not able to even look at me. Narayan is just a kid. He would make mistakes childishly but the moment he realized I would also be affected, he took the responsibility and immediately tried to make amends. I realized he really cared about me. It felt good to know my student’s feelings for me. That day later he was really quiet in class. Nowadays, I have noticed, he is less naughty. I’m glad the small moment of realization took its turn to bring change in his behavior.
