Between 2015 and 2026, Kota in Rajasthan—India’s major coaching hub for JEE and NEET aspirants—has witnessed a deeply concerning trend, with around 131 student deaths linked to academic pressure. Every year, many students struggle with intense competition, fear of failure, and mental stress, sometimes leading to tragic outcomes. In response, authorities and hostels have introduced preventive measures, including installing cage-like enclosures around ceiling fans to reduce self-harm risks. This situation highlights the urgent need for better mental health support, balanced education systems, and awareness to ensure student well-being alongside academic success in highly competitive environments.
