!! LAWCO X UCUAO PRESENT NETWORK UNLAWCKED !!
LawCo is very excited to organize this wonderful event on April 12th for our law students and alumni! Join the event to see alumni present about their current professional endeavours, how they got there and what UCU has brought them in life past the gates. Highlight speaker Emiel will address how he defends the right to freedom of speech in the Netherlands and Europe. Afterwards all students will get the chance to mingle with alumni whilst having a drink in our lovely bar!
The event will proceed as followed:
- 18:20 – Arrival in the bar
- 18:30 – panel consisting of five alumni highlighting their further education, internships and jobs after UCU.
- 19:00 – highlight speaker media lawyer Emiel who has represented (inter)national media, journalists and human rights defenders in cases about the freedom of speech. he is currently involved in a climate litigation case against the State of the Netherlands, and several years ago he handled a case against the European Union about the financing of a project in Eritrea for which forced labour was used.
- 19:15 and onwards – Ask all your burning questions and have a drink with our amazing Alumni. They will be happy to tell you everything they know! Drinks from the bar are provided by UCUAO;)

All students are welcome, especially those considering writing a law thesis or those (considering) partaking in the Double Law Degree. The session will be between 4pm-5pm in Locke D1. Hey Everyone!!
Exciting news. On November 18th, law fellow, Diana, will be hosting an info-session on the Double Law Degree for any students considering doing the DDLL, as well as for students planning to take the exam this January. Furthermore, Diana will also speak about doing a Law Thesis, for all the 3rd years (or any other eager students) that are considering doing a law thesis!
LawCo will be providing snacks!! Law Committee UCSA

OPEN CALL FOR ESSAY SUBMISSIONS

Diana Odier-Contreras Garduno (Law Fellow) and Ling Ling Li are excited to announce that the first ever digital scholarship blog at UCU is now on its way to publish its first issue! The SPOTLIGHT Scholarship Blog is a digital space where students and faculty members of the Law, Politics, and History tracks can post their academic work, written both in and out of class. We especially encourage interdisciplinary pieces that connect with the aforementioned tracks. Our publications include opinion editorials and academic articles, which are published on a monthly basis. This is our first ever open call for op-ed and article submissions, meaning that you can submit your work for any theme below and secure an early spot for getting published!

Every month, we have a different theme. For this November to January, we have the following themes (not in publishing order):
1.5 degrees of climate justice
Bite the apple: The fight for women’s rights
The continuous struggle for LGBTQ+ protection
