The coming days I have to work on a video on my new book: "How to Survive the Future with Chinese Medicine". Chinese medicine has mostly become a manifestation of vanity for acupuncturist. But the reality is in its daoist non-commercial altruistic foundation. This book reveals the foundations of daoist healthcare in relationship to being a practiced body at the foundation of taijiquan, qigong and daoyin, and as a preamble to understand chinese medicine theory as significant different than is proposed in modern tcm. Or the biomedical approach in medical acupuncture, or the torture based ideas of dry needling. They all use the same science that denies the value of chinese medicine freed from western science. Using western science for chinese or any other form of culture and its worldview and knowledge development is colonial repression. Convenient, yes, but it also shows a lack of true curiosity. And true, at first view that seems to make it less accessible as a comodity.
You have to understand that Chinese medicine is primarily experienced based, and should therefore be incorporated in daily life, from childhood onward, as a form of clan/family/community based tradition in self care. This is more so in modern times when so many threats risk our future survival.
Daoism holds to the idea that life is a meditation, for humans, animals, and plants alike. Meditation is based on the development from alertness to awareness, to divine awareness, all closed in the concept of shen-神 and 元神-primary awareness. Commonly the concept is christianized with "spirit", a concept in fact meaning "soul", as given by God. But before Christianity that meaning did not exist.
But back to my book: Besides the understanding of the foundation of health according to daoist 养生-yangsheng theory, not shared commonly with non Dandao-丹道 practitioners, it also does focus on the problem of future health in a world that breaks down, already experienced by millions of refugees, and the poor, and which might be the future of most of humanity in a world ruled by technofeudalism, the rich, and climate diaster, resource scarcity and so on. The book wants to be voice to shape a wide awareness, and empowering people with knowledge and skill to survive.
Sure, it is a stepping stone to my doctorate research (later in life, after having experienced my share of difficulties), but the book shapes its own value. It isn't small. It is over 300 pages, but its price is fair.
Currently I am also looking for a sponsor to demonstrate the book at the London Book fair in March. the book is online, you can but it on all major selling platforms, they are rolling it out all over the world. It should be translated in Spanish and Chinese, but currently I do not have the means to do that myself (time is at a premium).
Let me know if you but the book, or want to sponsor the books development. https://gofund.me/2b03dc71e. I thank you forward for it.
