You can now enroll for FYSICA 2020! This year's theme is "Big data & deep learning - New opportunities for physics & society". Nobel laureate Didier Queloz will speak in the afternoon about his work involving the discovery of the first exoplanet. Already convinced? There's also the young speakers contest - a session during the plenary morning programme of FYSICA where PhD students or postdocs within five years of obtaining their PhD can pitch their work in a presentation of 12 minutes. The prize for the best presentation is €750,-, a certificate and eternal fame! In the afternoon programme the theme will be further explored in focus sessions where you can pick those that you deem the most interesting. We will also present the winner of the SPIN-contest for the bachelor project competition. Do you think your bachelor thesis (published after FYSICA 2019) is one of the best in the Netherlands? Ben jij een bestuurder aan het eind van zijn bestuursjaar die op zoek is naar een nieuwe uitdaging of ben je een lid van een bij het SPIN aangesloten studievereniging met ervaring in het opzetten van evenementen en organisatorische vaardigheden? Wil jij je bemoeien met de natuurkunde in het WO in Nederland, inspraak tijdens de internationale vergaderingen van IAPS of om de tafel bij het NNV? Overweeg dan een bestuursjaar bij het SPIN! ICPS is een conferentie voor natuurkunde studenten van over de hele wereld.
Het zal plaatsvinden van 10 tot 17 augustus.
Dit jaar is het lekker dichtbij: in Keulen.
Geen excuus dus om niet te gaan.
De hele maand februari kan je je inschrijven.

Are you thinking about the great IAPS event International Conference of Physics Students (ICPS) 2019 in Cologne, Germany 🇩🇪? 😃

Today, registrations 📝 for ICPS 2019, organised by students of the Junge Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft - jDPG, officially opened! The first call runs through the entire month of February 🗓, but we should note that the sooner you sign up the higher the chances of having a spot at the conference! 😁

From the 10th to the 17th of August 🗓, student lectures and poster sessions open to participants, guest lectures with researchers and professors, lab tours, IAPS workshops, a job fair, excursions and city tours and, especially, the essential Annual General Meeting (AGM): all within reach of those brave, curious and dedicated enough to scientific endeavour to be a part of the Physics ⚛️ students community! 😍

About a week ago, on 11-14 May, the annual Physics League Across Numerous Countries for Kick-ass Students (better known as PLANCKS) took place in Zagreb, Croatia.
We want to congratulate the Dutch teams on their Kick-ass results. One team became 6th and the other team even won the League.

This year, the conference focuses on environmental issues and asks all the participants how they can contribute in solving the large global questions we are meeting today.
