Abstract Submission ISCOMS 2022
The International Student Congress Of (bio)Medical Sciences, also known as ISCOMS, is one of the
world’s leading student congresses in (bio)medical sciences. The 29 th  edition of ISCOMS will take
place from the 8 th  until 10 th  of June 2022, at the University Medical Centre Groningen.  
 
Last year’s congress took place digitally with a total of 646 participants from more than 65 different
countries. In order to get an impression of the congress, you can watch the aftermovie. The main
focus of this year’s congress will be on physical participation, but several elements will take place
digitally as well.  
Students can visit the congress both as a presenting and a non-presenting participant. ISCOMS offers
a scientific programme with a pre-course on mastering your research and three congress days in
which student presentation sessions (plenary, oral, and poster), interactive workshops, a patient
lecture and a surgical operation will take place. Furthermore, during the congress you can attend
keynote lectures including keynote lectures given by Nobel prize laureate 2011, regental prof. Bruce
Beutler MD, as well as prof. Jeffrey Friedman MD PhD, prof. Karl Diesseroth MD PhD, prof. Roel
Nusse PhD and prof. Hanneke Schuitemaker PhD.
Besides this, students can explore PhD opportunities at the University Medical Center Groningen
(UMCG) with the ISCOMS Research Fellowships (IRF). The IRF is a challenging two week programme,
in which students may actively participate in research at one of the UMCG Research Institutes and
gather a great deal of knowledge related to the topic of research. The IRF are available for presenting
participants exclusively.

submission is open until the 30 th of January 2022. Each student is allowed to submit up to two
