***STATEMENT ENERGY CHALLENGE COMMITTEE***
Dear Energy Enthousiast,
The Energy Challenge 2018 was set to take place last weekend, from friday December 13th until saturday December 15th. Due to a low number of registrations however, we had to make the decision to cancel the Challenge for these dates since the quality of the event could not be guaranteed. This week we did an extensive research into what the reason was for this low number of registrations, so that we could make a decision on what to do next. The first option was to cancel the event entirely. Another option was to postpone the Challenge to the beginning of next year and change the format and duration, so that the event would be more accessible.
After careful consideration we have decided to cancel the event entirely. From the feedback we received with our questionnaire we came to the conclusion that if we wanted to get more people to participate in the Challenge, we had to change the event radically. The event would have to be shorter to start with, and we would have to lower the threshold to facilitate participation in the Challenge. The commitment that is required after winning the Challenge also posed to be a problem for a lot of people, so this would have to be revised as well.
By doing so, we could no longer guarantee that we would reach our main goal of giving the winning team a head start to have a meaningful impact on the energy usage of festivals.
Since we do not want to part from this goal, and set up an event of lower quality, it is decided to cancel the Energy Challenge entirely. Thank you all for participating in the Inspiration Night, and showing interest in the Energy Challenge.
