At the flea market (vrijmarkt)
👉 Mag ik het even bekijken? (Can I take a look?)
👉 Is dit nog te koop? (Is this still available?)
👉 Mag ik het voor €5 meenemen? (Can I take it for €5?)

Navigating the crowds
👉 Pardon, mag ik er langs? (Excuse me, can I pass?)
👉 Het is hier echt druk! (It’s really busy here!)
👉 Zullen we hier blijven? (Shall we stay here?)

With friends
👉 Zullen we iets gaan drinken? (Shall we grab a drink?)
👉 Ik ga even naar de wc (I’m going to the bathroom)
👉 Tot later! (See you later!)

Some English words just don’t exist in Dutch… and that can be confusing 😅
Words you use all the time in English don’t always have a direct translation in Dutch. Instead, you often need a different phrase or a completely different way of saying it. That’s why learning a language isn’t just about translating words, but understanding how people actually speak.
