abrakadabra! 🪄🌀Conceptually we structure our workshops using the myth of the labyrinth. 🔮🌛At abra we guide your children along a series of fun, artistic trials, situated within a metaphorical maze. 🗝🎈In each workshop they are invited to create something, individually or collectively,
in response to the different conceptual ideas and artistic techniques we
present to them. 🎨🪄🖼Hence, they are asked to ‘abrakadabra’;
to create as they speak, before making it to the final celebration
and exhibition of their work.

🍎🌛Abrakadabra is after-school art program for English speaking children, ages 7-11, in Amsterdam.🌞

Our program takes the creative & imaginative lives of children seriously - resourcing them with the quality of instructors, materials and concepts often reserved for higher levels of education - moving beyond ideas that children’s creativity only belongs to disconnected fantasy worlds and not as an integral part of our society. 🙏🏼🔮🥰

abrakadabra ! we are so excited to share these news with you : our first guest teacher of the season is one of our favorite poets and persons, CA Conrad (US) ! In their workshop, CA invites the children to develop their own (soma)tic poetry rituals; exercises in which surreal, strange and seemingly illogical actions are carried out (staying silent for a day, only dressing in orange, writing with glitter, staring into a mirror, talking to a plant...) fun and unexpected experiences that are filtered through words, shaping just as beautiful and unexpected poems.

CA Conrad regularly teach at Columbia University in New York City, and at Sandberg Art Institute in Amsterdam.
