There's an old Sephardic tradition for welcoming baby girls into the world.

Family and friends gather ina circle, and pass the baby from hand to hand. When you hold her, you bless her, and channel the spirit of a good fairy. To protect her, with real magic 💫 The idea is to fool the bad fairies into believing the baby is already surrounded, and protected by love.

I wrote the song Fada De Mi Korazon about this beautiful ritual ❤️

Where do you dream of going? ❤️

Irme Kero ("I Want to Go") is a Ladino song about a 14-year-old girl in medieval Spain dreaming of walking all the way to Jerusalem.

Her mom knows better: the journey is almost impossible. But instead of saying "no," she says, "Let's dream together." Together they imagine tasting the holy water and seeing the fruit growing in the Land of Milk and Honey.
