It started as a half-formed inkling.

For a long time, Natasha Lythgoe, Founder & Wilderness Guide, kept her life compartmentalized: Buddhist practice over here, wilderness guiding over there.

But there was a tension she couldn't ignore.
She noticed the outdoor community tended to overly psychologize nature, turning it into a secular self-help tool possibly to get bookings.

Meanwhile, her deep meditation practice lacked the raw edge of the living world.
Neither practice was complete without the other.

By listening to that subtle inner "itch," she birthed a compelling synthesis. She merged the profound internal discipline of Buddhist insight with the external focus of photography, creating a completely new way of perceiving what her mentor called "holy nature."

It wasn't about switching locations; it was about combining two separate lineages into a single, indivisible way of being.

I have often pondered how might we align/integrate human dreaming with that of the earths dream. Or merge meld intermingle with the dream of Gaia?

So in this first excerpt of my Phenomenal Conversation with Natasha Lythgoe, wilderness guide buddhist practitioner and founder of The Art of Rewilding, I asked her 'How we can co-dream with the Earth,' her response was very elucidating;

In a world obsessed with cognitive answers and AI-generated solutions, we have forgotten a basic physical reality: we are not just on the Earth; we are of it.
~ The Perspective Shift: Beyond Cognition: You cannot understand ecological connection through logic alone. It is a felt, somatic experience.
~ The Elements Within Us: The food we eat becomes our body. The air we breathe is the sky breathing us.
~ Flipping the Assumption: Breaking the spell of isolation—the false belief that we are the center of the universe and entirely separate from the web of life.

In wilderness guiding, there is also a practice known as "The Mirror of Nature." It is the moment we stop looking at the land, and start allowing the land to reflect who we truly are.

Is it too late for collapse avoidance?

Conventional leadership often focuses on "avoiding" disaster, but experts suggest the window for avoidance closed decades ago. According to the Limits to Growth report, the trajectory toward collapse had already began as early as December 1972.

In this second preview of Phenomenal Conversation #57, Ralph Thurm discusses a profound strategic shift: moving from the "poly-crisis" into the "meta-crisis" and embracing Collapse Resilience.

~The dialogue highlights a necessary divorce from the status quo:

~The Strategic Shift: Moving away from collaboration with corporations, governments, and co-opted NGOs.

~Ground-Up Development: Focusing on systems that already exist but have been "bulldozered over" by the current economic system.

~Sunlight as Disinfectant: Bringing hidden, resilient strategies out from "under the carpet" to face the reality of economic limits.

The conclusion is stark: the time for sticking one's head in the sand is over.

Resilience requires developing strategies from the ground up, independent of the institutions that facilitated the current crisis.

"It is too late for collapse avoidance. The focus must now shift to collapse resilience and strategy development informed by the meta-crisis."

Stop waiting for external institutions to solve the problem. Start building resilience from the ground up.

What happens when "Sustainability" isn't enough?

Expert Ralph Thurm joins the podcast to share a raw account of moving from mainstream corporate innovation to Collapse Acceptance.

The Hard Truths:

- Mainstream Failure: Decades of corporate and government work often result in "continuous denial" rather than real change.

- Beyond Depression: Admitting that previous efforts didn't have the desired effect is the first step toward a new kind of power.

- No More Hiding: Sticking one's head in the sand won't stop the unavoidable.

- The Path Forward: Ralph suggests that everyone must go through a "mourning journey" to process the starting point of collapse awareness. Only then can actions be truly informed by reality rather than false hope.

Forget Harmony. Try Syntony. 🎷✨
Is your leadership a "static chord" or "improvisational jazz"?

Most people chase "balance" as if it’s a destination. But Dr. Alexander Laszlo suggests something much more alive: Syntony.

What’s the difference? 🎼 Harmony: Can be a single, beautiful, but static moment. Like standing on one leg. 🎷 Syntony: Is the constant, ever-changing dance of aligning with the flow of your environment.

Alexander describes it as the difference between hitting a note and being in the flow of a jazz ensemble. It’s about aligning and attuning in real-time—like his formative experience navigating a boat at sea. 🌊

In a polycrisis, we don’t need more static plans. We need to learn the art of the "tuning fork."

Beyond the Green 🌿✨

Why "Ecology" isn't enough. 🧬

We talk a lot about saving the planet, but Richard Flyer suggests we’re looking at the symptoms, not the source.

In this upcoming episode, Richard challenges the "ecology-first" mindset. He believes that Sacred Design—the spiritual reality of Truth, Beauty, and the Highest Good—is what actually drives the universe.

🌌 The Core Idea:

~ Ecology is a subset of spirit.

~ If we ignore the sacred, we miss the connection that billions of people already feel.

~ Symbiotic Culture is about tapping into the source code of reality, not just the biological output.

~ Stop designing for the surface. Start designing for the soul.

IBeyond the Silo 🧬

Is your community a collection of "silos" or a living ?

Richard Flyer believes we are in the midst of a Cultural Symbiogenesis. Just as ancient bacteria merged to create multicellular life, our organizations and leaders are now being called to merge into a "meta-network." 🕸️

The goal? To transcend the top-down systems that benefit from our division and start co-creating local food systems, economies, and cultures that actually hold us.

It’s not just "networking"—it’s evolution.

Andres Roberts founder of the Bio-Leadership Project : On The Extraordinary Present previewing Phenomenal Conversation #54

"Wow. Look where we live."

We spend so much energy worrying about where we are going that we forget to notice the extraordinary reality of where we are.

In this clip, Andres Roberts shares a beautiful shift in perspective: What if we stopped trying to manufacture a better future and focused entirely on attending to the present moment more fully??

Every day is a chance to:
~ Notice the wonder of our world.
~ Share life energy and grace with other people.
~ Make one small expression of gratitude, right now.

Andres calls this "passing the baton." We don’t have to solve it all. We just have to hand over something useful to the people of the future and trust them to carry it forward.

Phenomenal Conversation #54 is launching in the next week or two.
The conversation was a rich appreciation of how life can be, in any moment.

Delighted to be co-shepherding this Inner Green Deal Global Resilience Walk with Doret de Rooij: More

Shortly you could be feeling spring in the air. Alongside all the disruption, doom and dystopia, spring also offers hope, imagination and possibility.

Just like 2025, the Inner Green Deal is organizing resilience walks around the world. And we, Doret de Rooij and me – are hosting a Dutch edition, in a beautiful forest where the Randstad gives way to nature.

Will you join us? Sign up via IGD https://lnkd.in/enNjJQnx (Link in Bio)
or by joining the Signal group (see Flyer QR).

On March 20, from 10:10 to 12:10*, we will start from the Vuursche Dreef parking area in Hollandsche Rading. https://lnkd.in/eCA6rrXn

All over the world that day, people will pause, walk and connect – with life, with one another, and with our shared humanity.

In complex and uncertain times, strength lies in simple choices: taking time to pause, recharge, rebalance, and remember that we are part of the world around us.

We would love to see you there!

Symbiosis is the art of living side by side in mutual harmony. In the natural world, it is the fundamental law of reciprocity—a state where different species coexist in a way that enhances the vitality of the whole.

In our current landscape, we often experience the opposite: a sense of fracturing and fragmentation. Even when we are working toward positive change, our efforts can feel isolated, like scattered seeds that haven't yet found their common soil.

The shift toward a Symbiotic Culture isn't about replacing the vital work for example already being done in the regenerative movement. Instead, it offers a complementary layer—the "relational tissue" that helps our individual efforts weave together.

If regeneration is about restoring the health of the land and our systems, symbiosis is the social glue that sustains those efforts through deep, local connection.

On Wednesday, March 11th 19.00CET, I’m hosting a Phenomenal Conversation with Richard Flyer to explore how we can move toward this more integrated way of being.

Richard’s work in "Symbiotic Culture" focuses on how we can build grounded, service-oriented hubs that support and amplify the regenerative work already unfolding in our bioregions.

We’ll be exploring:
- How a symbiotic lens adds a new dimension to our regenerative efforts.
- The role of "Service" as a contemplative practice that sustains systemic change.
- The "re-platforming" of the sacred—finding deep meaning in the quiet, relational spaces of our daily labor.

The Format:
We’ll begin with a 45-minute dialogue, followed by small-group dyads or triads. This is a space to sense together how these themes of mutual harmony can strengthen the work you are already doing in your own life and community.
