One of the most inspiring aspects of being in construction is seeing how our work contributes to the bigger picture. In isolation, each project team member’s contribution may be relatively small, but it’s far from insignificant. The final building is a result of the hard work of each and every team member.

Building is not just about shelter. It’s about realizing dreams, making statements, creating spaces where life happens.

8 Things to Remember When Starting to Build

1. Your actual budget Will almost NEVER be the real budget. In building there are a lot of unplanned or underestimated costs. So expect a difference between planned and actual expenses.

2. Time is money. The longer you take to start the more expensive things get. E.g transportation component.

3. You may not get everything right the first time. Be prepared to get a few things wrong.

4. Go easy on your first project. Even if you have the money, your first building must not be your dream building. Take it easy. Building is like exams in education. Your first exam is never your last.

5. Rent out your property if you can. Whenever possible consider putting your property on rent so you can get a slightly cheaper property. This is just a suggestion. But it will inspire you to build more.

6. Use quality materials. Building is tricky. You will always pay for all shortcuts.

7. Never settle. Building is like food. We keep eating. It is so addictive to be in real estate.

8. Give Yourself some roses 🌹. Take a break and celebrate what you have done so far.
