Tribute to late Dr. Aliyu Muhammad Sani
By: Muhammad Ibrahim Sidi
It is rare to meet a man whose presence feels like an engine quiet, steady, and always pushing everything forward. But that was exactly who Dr. Aliyu was. From the first moment you encountered him, you could sense a life driven by purpose, service, and knowledge.
From the beginning, his story was tied to learning. He lived it, breathed it, and shared it. As the days turned into years, he became known as the engine, the jack of all trades, and the master of all. And truly, there was no exaggeration in these words.
As Tazkiyah Schools grew into a movement committed to giving underserved communities access to quality education, one name stood firmly at its foundation. Dr. Aliyu. In fact, the history of Tazkiyah would never be complete without mentioning him. Whenever Maulana Prof. Ahmad Maqari (RA) dreamed of a new possibility, it was Dr. Aliyu who turned that dream into something real and visible.
Moving from one branch to another, he poured his life, his energy, and his intellect into the schools under him. When he became the second Director of Tazkiyah Schools Nigeria after Imam Dr. Hamza Assudany he did far more than lead. He shaped direction, opened new branches, develop unshakable teams, and created a united sense of purpose across the branches.
And one of the greatest blessings Allah gave him was that leaving a seat never stopped him from serving. Even after stepping down, he continued working closely with his successor and the current Director to achieve the schools’ goals and vision. His commitment was not tied to any position, it was tied to the mission itself.
With time, one thing became clear Dr. Aliyu was not just a leader; he was a force. He was versatile, visionary, and tireless. Whenever others saw a roadblock, he saw a way forward. Whenever others doubted, he believed. His favourite language was possibility. And through that mindset, he established Tazkiyah in ways that words can hardly capture.
If Tazkiyah Schools were a car, then he was the engine strong, reliable, and always moving the mission ahead. And because of him, many achievements were recorded. Because of him, many dreams came alive. Because of him, no task was ever too heavy.
Even in his final days, his commitment never slowed. The last voice note he sent to the managerial team was about a task he had completed done with the same passion, determination, discipline and honesty he carried throughout his life.
Today, we look back and see a man who gave everything, his time, his energy, his intellect, and his heart. And we move forward holding onto the light he left behind.
May Allah forgive his shortcomings, expand his grave, and reward him with the highest ranks in Jannah. His absence is painful, but his legacy will continue to guide us for years to come.
