Adamawa State Ministry of Education Distributes Learning Materials to Secondary Schools.

The Adamawa State Government, through its Ministry of Education, has supplied learning materials to all senior secondary schools in the state as part of ongoing efforts to improve and strengthen the education sector.

The distribution took place at General Murtala Muhammed College in Yola.

Addressing attendees, the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Garba Pella, said the initiative demonstrates the government’s resolve to enhance educational standards and boost students’ academic achievement across the state. He called on school principals to ensure the materials are properly managed and effectively utilized, emphasizing that strong supervision is essential to delivering quality education.

Dr. Pella also reiterated the administration’s commitment to seeing students succeed in their final secondary school examinations, noting that the government remains dedicated to providing free education throughout the state.

Similarly, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Hajiya Aisha Muhammed Umar, advised school heads to carefully protect the materials to prevent damage and ensure they are used effectively. She also encouraged students to stay focused on their studies so they can complete their education successfully with outstanding results.

In his remarks, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB), Mr. Birsan Peniel, cautioned school heads against selling the distributed materials, warning that any principal involved in such misconduct would face strict disciplinary measures.

He further urged school administrators to collaborate with host communities to strengthen school security and maintain a safe and peaceful learning environment. Mr. Peniel also appealed to parents to support schools by ensuring their children attend classes regularly and on time, stressing that such cooperation would inspire teachers to give their best. He added that since the state government is paying for final secondary school examination fees and providing free education, parents have no justification for keeping their children out of school.

He praised Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for prioritizing education and consistently supplying schools with instructional materials to promote the state’s overall development.

Post Primary Schools Board Calls for Stronger Parent–Teacher Cooperation to Promote Peace.

The Acting Secretary of the Post Primary School Management Board, Birsan Penuel, has called for mutual understanding between parents and teachers as a key step toward promoting peace in secondary schools.

Mr. Penuel made the appeal while receiving members of the Adamawa State Peace Commission during a courtesy and familiarization visit to his office.

Addressing the delegation, the Acting Executive Secretary proposed the appointment of a desk officer within the board to facilitate smooth communication between the commission and school authorities. He described the visit as timely, citing the growing level of misunderstandings between teachers and parents in various communities.

According to him, strengthening collaboration between both parties would significantly enhance the establishment and effectiveness of peace clubs in secondary schools across the state.

Mr. Penuel also urged community members to serve as peace ambassadors, warning that during communal clashes or misunderstandings, government property particularly schools often becomes the first target of destruction.

In his remarks, the Director of School Services of the board commended the Peace Commission for the visit and stressed the need to address issues of theft and insecurity in schools. He emphasized that peace-building initiatives should extend beyond students to include active participation from parents.

Speaking earlier, the Vice Chairman of the Peace Commission expressed appreciation for the Acting Secretary’s support and assured that the commission would work closely with the board to promote peace and stability in the society.
