Today, the State Coordinator of NHIA Taraba State Office, Mr. Ernest T. Tarbo, led other staff of the NHIA State Office on a courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director of Federal University Teaching Hospital, Wukari, Prof. Dauda M. Ayuba.
The purpose of the visit was to assess NHIA operations in the hospital. The team also engaged with the Hospital Management Staff to explore areas of collaboration aimed at strengthening healthcare service delivery through NHIA.
Thereafter, the State Coordinator held a meeting with the CeMONC Multidisciplinary Committee of the hospital during its quarterly review meeting. The meeting was aimed at assessing the progress of the programme, identifying challenges, proffering solutions, and encouraging robust sensitization of the programme to prospective beneficiaries.

FEDERAL UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL, WUKARI INAUGURATES NUAHP BRANCH
The Federal University Teaching Hospital, Wukari (FUTH Wukari), officially inaugurated its branch of the National Union of Allied Health Professionals (NUAHP) in a colorful ceremony held at the hospital. The event marked a significant milestone in promoting staff welfare, unity, and professional development.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Prof. Ayuba Dauda Madachi, alongside the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr. Tensaba Akafa, and the Director of Administration, Mr. Theophilus Danjuma warmly welcomed members of the National Executive of the Union. The hospital management reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the growth and success of the union for the benefit of its members.
The CMD emphasized the important role of trade unions in any organization, noting that they serve as vital partners in promoting staff welfare, industrial harmony, and institutional development. He encouraged members to actively participate in union activities while maintaining professionalism and cooperation with the hospital management.
In their goodwill messages, the National Vice Chairman, North, Dr. Hassan Mohammad Sabiu, and the National Internal Auditor, Dr. Mahamud Yunusa Yandutse gave a brief history of NUAHP. They highlighted the union’s leadership structure, guiding principles, and the benefits of membership. They stressed that professionalism, fairness, and equity should remain the foundation of the union’s activities and urged members to work closely with management while advocating for the welfare and rights of staff.
The Director of Administration, Mr. Theophilus Danjuma, thereafter, conducted the swearing-in and oath-taking ceremony for the newly inaugurated pro-tem executive officers of the FUTH Wukari branch.

In her acceptance speech, the newly inaugurated Chairperson, Mrs. Edna Bawa Pyiki expressed profound appreciation to the Chief Medical Director and the hospital management for their unwavering support and for providing an enabling environment for the establishment of the union branch. She also thanked the National Executive Council for the confidence reposed in the newly elected officers and pledged to uphold the principles of fairness, equity, and dedication in promoting the welfare and professional interests of all members.

*PARADE BY THE SECURITY UNIT OF FEDERAL UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL, WUKARI*
Ensuring the safety of one’s territory is one of the key responsibilities of a great and dedicated leader.
The Security Unit of the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Wukari, held a parade today for inspection by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Ayuba Dauda Madachi.
The parade was also witnessed by the Director of Administration, Mr. Danjuma Theophilus, and the CMAC, Dr. Akafa Tensaba.
After the parade, Prof. Madachi addressed the security personnel. He commended their demonstration during the parade as a clear sign of commitment to duty. He expressed confidence that they will effectively cover all designated posts to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and hospital property.
He further expressed delight at having a new Chief Security Officer in place SP Emmanuel Shishi Daniel (retired). He encouraged the security unit to feel free to table all complaints regarding the unit to his office, assuring them of prompt management response.
He added that he has received positive reports from the Chief Security Officer and expressed hope that the same spirit of dedication will be sustained for the growth and betterment of this great institution.

Official Inauguration of FUTHW into SSAUTHRIAI
The Federal University Teaching Hospital Wukari (FUTHW) was officially inaugurated today as a member of the Senior Staff Association of Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and Associated Institutions (SSAUTHRIAI).
The event was attended by members of the hospital’s top management team, SSAUTHRIAI executives, and staff members.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief Medical Director (CMD), the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr. Tensaba Akafa welcomed the union executives and assured them of the hospital’s full commitment and support for the union’s activities within the confines of the law.
Also addressing the gathering, the Director of Administration, Mr. Theophilus welcomed the union members and emphasized the vital role of trade unions in every organization. He encouraged staff members to actively participate in and support SSAUTHRIAI.
In his remarks, the Sector Chairman, Comrade Ken Bassey, provided a brief history of the union, highlighting its leadership structure, guiding principles, and the numerous benefits of union membership He also conducted the swearing-in and oath-taking ceremony for the newly inaugurated officials of the FUTHW branch:

DIGITAL DEMONSTRATION BY INNOVASTRA LIMITED HELD AT FEDERAL UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL WUKARI
A digital demonstration held at Federal University Teaching Hospital Wukari to unveil the digital health platform and demonstrate its proposed input and functionality for each clinical and administrative unit. The aim was to explore how the platform can improve patient care, data management, communication, and overall hospital efficiency.
The event was attended by Chief Medical Director Prof. Ayuba Dauda Madachi, Directors of Administration Mr Theophilus Danjuma, Director finance Mr Bulus David, Director works Eng. Timothy Gambo, Director audit Mr Daniel Agye, Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee [CMAC] Dr Akafa Tensaba,Head of Procurement Mr Mataka Consultant Physicians and Resident Doctors, Head of Unit, Head of Nursing, ICT Unit Staff and Other Hospital Staff
The session commenced with a proper overview of the platform, followed by a live demonstration. The presentation was structured to show the input, workflow, and output for each unit:
1. Clinical Units
Outpatient/Inpatient Management: Electronic patient registration, consultation notes, and admission/discharge workflow.
2. Laboratory & Radiology: Digital request, result upload, and integration with patient records.
3. Pharmacy: E-prescription, drug inventory tracking, and dispensing workflow
4. Nursing Station: Vital signs charting, medication administration records etc
5. Administrative Units:
Medical Records: Digitization of patient files, retrieval, and reporting reporting.
Finance/Billing: Automated billing, payment tracking, and NHIA claims processing.
ICT Unit: system integration, data security, and user access control.
The CMAC Dr. Akafa expressed appreciation to the Chief Medical Director for advancing the digital transformation of the hospital and prayed for further growth and success.
Prof. Madachi, in his closing remarks, appreciated the Innovastral Limited for the demonstration and also thank all the staff in attendance. He noted that any adoption would depend on cost-effectiveness, ease of use, data security, and alignment with the hospital’s digital transformation goals.

Maiden Nurses Week Celebration Kicks Off at FUT HOSPITAL,WUKARI 12TH MAY, 2026
The maiden Nurses Week celebration at the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Wukari, commenced on a colourful and professional note, marking the first time the hospital is formally observing the event.
The event began with the ceremonial marching-in of nurses from various units and departments of the hospital. Dressed in their uniforms , the procession displayed discipline, unity, and professional pride as they took their positions in the venue.
Following the procession, the Master of Ceremony introduced the invited guests. Present at the occasion were the Chief Medical Director Prof Ayuba Dauda Madachi, Director of Administration Mr Theophilus Danjuma,Director finance Mr Bulus David, Director works Eng. Timothy Gambo, Director audit Mr Daniel Agye, Head of Procurement Mr Mataka, Clinical Services, and Nursing Services, the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee Dr AkafaTensaba, consultant physicians.
In his opening address, the Head of Nursing Services Nr. Girgir Gideon welcomed all participants and thanked the hospital management for supporting the maiden celebration. He emphasized that the week-long event would highlight the contributions of nurses, promote professional development, and strengthen patient care standards at FUT Hospital, Wukari.
The Chairman of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Mr Joshua Agbu , FUTH Wukari Chapter, delivered the keynote speech. He appreciated the hospital management for recognizing nurses through this initiative and called for continued investment in nursing education, staffing, and welfare. He also urged nurses to uphold the ethics of the profession and remain committed to quality care delivery.
He went further to explain Why Nurses Celebrate this special day. Nurses Week is celebrated globally to honour the dedication and sacrifices of nurses in healthcare delivery. It is observed every May 12 to commemorate the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. The celebration serves to recognize the vital role of nurses, raise public awareness of their contributions, advocate for better working conditions, and inspire the next generation of nurses.
However, he presented the theme for the Nurses Week " Our Nurses.Our Future. Empowering Nurses to save live".
The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Ayuba Dauda Madachi declared the event open and stated that the theme for this year’s Nurses Week came at the right time.
He went further to say that nurses are the backbone of the hospital. He commended them for consistently giving their best in patient care and expressed his pride in the nurses of FUT Hospital, Wukari.
Prof. Madachi assured that management would provide the necessary resources and support to ease their work and ensure quality service delivery.
In conclusion, he prayed that the work of the nurses would continue to save lives and inspire the future.
The event continued with two major educational topics discussed in detail by the presenters.
Day one of Nurses Week concluded with a football match at St. Mary’s Football Pitch between the staff of FUT Hospital, Wukari, and the nurses of FUT Hospital, Wukari. It was an exciting and well-contested game.
