OMNIBLUE- It's a Movement 🌊

The world’s largest container shipping company, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, has signed a 45-year concession agreement to develop and operate a new container terminal at Snake Island Port in Lagos, Nigeria.

The project, developed in partnership with Nigerdock, is expected to significantly boost Nigeria’s maritime logistics capacity and strengthen the country’s position as a key shipping hub in West Africa.

The terminal will feature:
• Approximately 910 meters of quay length
• 30 hectares of terminal space
• Capacity to handle large container vessels

This investment is part of MSC’s broader strategy to expand port infrastructure and improve trade connectivity across Africa.

If completed as planned, the project will help reduce port congestion, improve cargo handling efficiency, and support Nigeria’s growing maritime economy.

🌊 Blue Economy Investment Summit 2026

Nigeria continues to strengthen its commitment to unlocking the vast opportunities within the blue economy.

The Blue Economy Investment Summit 2026 will take place in Lagos from April 9–11, 2026, bringing together policymakers, investors, innovators, and maritime stakeholders to advance sustainable growth across the maritime sector.

With the theme “Shifting Gears: Heading to a New Frontier in Maritime Economy,” the summit will focus on maritime trade, port infrastructure, marine innovation, and investment opportunities within Nigeria’s blue economy.

The summit will feature a keynote address by Rt. Hon. Sheriff F. O. Oborevwori.

At OMNIBLUE, we view this as a strategic platform for shaping the future of Nigeria’s maritime economy through collaboration, innovation, and investment.
