Yesterday, the Committee on External Affairs, alongside the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Honourable Members of the 9th Inaugural BAMSSA House of Assembly, were duly present at the historic inauguration of the first ASSON LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
The event marked a significant milestone in strengthening inter-association collaboration and legislative development within our faculty and department. In attendance were the Faculty President, the ASSON President, the Chairlady of the Committee on External Affairs, as well as the Senators representing BAMSSA from the ASSON and SPAN constituencies.
During the inauguration, each of the distinguished leaders took turns to enlighten students and members on the vital roles and responsibilities of the legislative arm, both at the departmental and faculty levels. Emphasis was laid on representation, accountability, law-making, student welfare advocacy, and effective checks and balances within the students’ union structure.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the Speaker of the BAMSSA House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Paul Japheth, whose leadership and guidance added great value to the occasion.
Students and members of the association were fully in attendance, demonstrating unity, commitment, and support for the growth of student and legislative governance.
This engagement further strengthens the bond between our associations and promotes cooperation, mutual understanding, and shared progress.

The BAMSSA House of Assembly held a plenary sitting on Monday, 9th February, 2026, at the Faculty premises. The sitting was presided over by the Honourable Speaker, Rt. Hon. Japheth Paul, with principal officers and Honourable Members of the House in full attendance.
The session was conducted in an atmosphere of order, legislative decorum, and institutional responsibility, reflecting the commitment of the House to effective student representation and democratic governance within the faculty.
