Happy international women's day
It’s a day to celebrate the strength, intelligence, resilience, and contributions of women everywhere.
To every woman reading this:
You’re allowed to take up space.
You’re allowed to dream big.
You’re allowed to define success for yourself.
I'm rooting for you my queens

I finished the writing challenge fearlessly.
The end of a beautiful beginning.
Thirty days ago, it felt like a long road😩😩😩😩.
It looked as if I would die, but this Yakubu managed.
If someone had told me I was going to make over 90 posts, I would have said it's a lie, but today it feels like proof.
I didn’t write perfectly; in fact, there were days I wrote with fear, but I did it anyway and consistently, at least a post every day (it was supposed to be three, but I know there were days I defaulted).
Today, I also became an AIESECer; this writing made me turn up.
I remember having my interview but still writing to post.
I can confidently say I am a fearless writer.
PS: I didn't only get better at writing, I also got better at snapping pictures.
This Pharmacist picture looks really good 🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭.
This time next year, I'll be Pharm. Dr. Jocelyn Ajijola-Oluwa (B. Sc Doctor of Pharmacy).

ONE WORD I WOULD LOVE TO SAY TO MARY OGINNI:
If there is something I could say, it would be thank you.
Thank you for making me grow. Writing has become something that flows naturally when I think about it.
Writing has become something I can start without feeling shy.
Thank you for showing me that you can be strict but still intentional about someone.

APPRECIATION TO EVERYONE WHO ENGAGED MY POSTS
To everyone who read, liked, and commented, thank you.
Some days, a simple comment was enough to push me to write the next post.
Sometimes I didn’t reply immediately, but I saw it and I appreciate it.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me.

HIGHLIGHT OF WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THIS WRITING CHALLENGE
It forced me to be disciplined and stretched my thinking.
It made me articulate experiences I would normally overlook.
It helped me build confidence in my voice but the biggest highlight?
I proved to myself that I can commit to something and finish it.

WHAT I WOULD DO DIFFERENTLY IF I JOIN ANOTHER WRITING CHALLENGE
I would plan better.
There were days I wrote on the same day I needed to post.
That works because I already have something figured out but it's not always easy as I could be writing for days.
Next time, I would schedule posts in advance so I am not constantly creating contents under pressure.
I would also allow myself to write imperfectly and faster, sometimes I spend too much time editing instead of simply expressing the idea.
My progress was slow because I was chasing perfection
I would track engagement more intentionally not for validation, but to understand what resonates.
Past reflection matters very well.
Growth becomes easier when you are reflective.

CHALLENGES I ENCOUNTERED DURING THE WRITING CHALLENGE
The biggest challenge was consistency and showing up.
There were days I was tired; days I had lectures, volunteering, events, and still needed to write.
Some days I questioned whether what I was writing even made sense; other days I overthought every sentence before posting.
Another challenge was vulnerability. It's one thing to write facts; it's another to write experiences, to admit you struggled, and to share lessons you're still learning, which requires courage.
Then there was comparison, seeing other people's posts and wondering if mine were 'good enough' created a quiet pressure that made me want to shrink.
But I kept going, and that mattered more than perfection.

HEELS, FLATS, OR SNEAKERS?
If you’re ushering for 6 to 10 hours, you have to choose comfort over aesthetics.
Heels might not be the best option because, by the end of the event, your smile fades if your feet are on fire.
Ushering isn’t just standing; you’re walking guests to seats, moving between sections, adjusting last-minute seating, confirming instructions, and sometimes almost jogging.
Some events require heels; if that’s the dress code, choose block heels over stilettos and wear them in before the event.
Event day is not the time to experiment, test run days to the event, I remember I had this stilettos that I practiced how to wear it says before the event and that's what saved me when I wore it because after the event I couldn't feel my legs.
If sneakers are allowed, that’s ideal; clean, simple, neutral sneakers can carry you through the day.
For flats, only choose those that are cushioned properly, as some look harmless but feel like a stone in your shoes after two hours.
Here’s the real point: looking good matters, but functioning well matters more.
You cannot serve well if you’re distracted by discomfort.
I remember declining an event because I was asked to wear heels, even after I begged not to.

HOW USHERS BUILD NETWORKS WITHOUT EVEN TRYING
Every event introduces new contacts, different organizers, vendors, team members and guests.
Most people focus only on the task, but the real asset is the relationships forming around you.
Consistency builds trust and reputation moves fast.
If you show up early, stay attentive, follow instructions, and handle pressure well, people remember.
Event planners talk, coordinators recommend. Someone asks, “Do you know a reliable usher?” and your name either comes up or it doesn’t.
That’s networking.
Before you realize it, you’re being called directly instead of applying.
Networking only works if your character matches your visibility.
If you’re inconsistent, rude, distracted, or dramatic, that spreads too.
So for Ushering and Networking sake be diplomatic in any events you find yourself.
