Children Cannot Raise Themselves.

I don't hesitate to share my thoughts with parents each time they come to drop their children in school.

I see the early morning struggle in school and parent's assumptions come into play.

It's always a tug of war for a particular parent each time she brings her children to school. One of the kids was in my class then, so I had a first-hand experience.

We would all start hearing spanks and shouts from the school gate, almost everyone knew their family. It was becoming a usual practice.

The mother only discovers that the kids forget their stuff at home each time they get to the school gate, so it became a usual practice of spanks, shouts and yelling.

Today the kids might forget their launch pack, another time, it would be their school bag. One of the kids once came without putting on her shoes, she was only wearing her white socks🤣.

I understand the struggles the mother might be going through. I refused to judge her. My only problem was her constant shouting and spanking.

I knew none of that would work, so I reached out to her one day in school and shared my thought with her.

First, she needs to teach the kids how to organize themselves and take care of their stuff.

Shouting would not replace teaching!
Yelling would not replace teaching!
Spanking will not replace teaching!
Assumptions will not replace the place of teaching!

Dear Parents,

Don't assume the kids know what to do. Take your time to teach them and stay consistent.

Yes, stay consistent. In this journey, you don't just teach once and move on. You need to keep teaching it.

Repetition is a very powerful tool. Use it to your advantage.

I am not even going to mince words with anyone. I do not know how to sugar coat my words. You will need money to get access to this valuable information and skills. Did I hear you say 'google'?

People's brains, results and strategies ain't online for free. You'd pay to get access to life-changing information.

Towards the last quarter of 2021, I decided to increase my source of income by getting valuable skills. These skills cost me money, but I was determined to change my status quo. One of which is the 72IG course. This course enabled me to get access to valuable digital skills like; copywriting, email marketing, sales and marketing, graphic designs and lots more.

The icing on the cake is the fact that you'd get to become an affiliate on expertnaire which enables you to make money daily from the comfort of your home and with just your phone.

I got the 72IG course and within the space of 2-months, I have earned over 800k in commission and made sales of over a 1.6million.

That's not all.

The additional knowledge I got via the course made me to create my own course and sell it on WhatsApp every day.

Imagine making 6-figure every week from the comfort of your home without stress. So now, I make sales every day on WhatsApp.

I still have my salary job😋.

Getting digital skills doesn't disturb your paid/salary job. You are only increasing your streams of income which is the right thing to do in this age and time.

In church today, a very beautiful teen girl sat beside me. She was in the company of her mother and an older relative. The girl should be around age 12 or 13.

The young girl seems to be conscious of her looks. She kept stealing glances at herself through her mother's phone. All of a sudden, the older relative exclaimed saying, 'You are not fine. You're so ugly. You look like a monkey (say that in Yoruba).' The smile on the teenage girl's face fades off immediately.

I saw how uncomfortable she became after such a remark by the older relative. I saw how the older relative seems satisfied with the outcome. The ever-smiling teen girl became sober and withdrawn. She didn't smile till the end of the service.

Amazingly, her mother witnessed all that transpired but she didn't say anything neither did she rebuke the older relative.

=======
In all sincerity, that teenage girl is a beauty to behold. Her fair clean skin, beautiful smile, and white dentition made it very obvious that she was a beauty to behold. So I wonder why the older relative chooses to ridicule her in such a manner.

Is it a crime to acknowledge something good?

Why do people fail to pass innocent compliments when they see one?

Or is it a case of protecting the girl child so her beauty doesn't get into her head? I remember while growing they'd advised teenage girls not to admire themselves or say that they are beautiful. Well, I don't know the reason for such myopic thoughts, but I don't find it cool.

So many thoughts ran through my mind while observing the whole situation in church today.

======
As soon as we shared the grace, I walked up to her and told her how beautiful she was. I told her anyone who chooses to call her ugly is either blind or insane. In a twinkle of an eye, the beautiful smile on her face came alive. We chatted a little before saying goodbye.

-What are your thoughts?

-Do you think the older relative was fair to have called her ugly and other demeaning remarks?

-Would you sit and watch while someone body shame a teenager?

-Am I right to have spoken to the teen girl and help restore her self-confidence?

A child does not exist primarily to make you feel good about yourself as a parent. They do not exist to fulfill your dreams and ambitions.

It's the end of an academic session and a new academic session is about to begin. As usual, we will have numerous cases of parents trying to force their children into science class. I once shared a story of a young boy who was crying profusely because he didn't meet up the cut off point to make him an eligible science student

The more I tried to pacify and speak calmly to him, the more he wailed. It was more like a death sentence scenario. In no time, he attracted other members of the staff and a scene was created. "My father will kill me if he finds out I didn't pass the exam. He wants me to be in the science department." The young boy finally revealed.

It took a lot of effort and a direct call to the father before the young boy was allowed to follow his passion (He has passion for anything Art, he is very creative).

For a very long time after that incident, I taught about innocent children who are caged into fulfilling their parent's wishes. Imagine how a young boy was crying like the whole world had ended simply because a father mandated that his son must be in science department.

There are so many parents out there who are ignorant of the implication of their forceful act. Even if that young boy had managed to pass the exam, he might not be fulfilled being in science class. Yes, you have a part to play in guiding your child career-wise and all. But please allow the child to choose. You can employ the service of a career counsellor who will educate you and your child.

I hope you find this useful and worthy.

Every child loves a teacher that is not just loving and caring but creates a sense of community and belonging in the classroom.

I resolved to make the classroom a home away from home for my pupils. They'd never have to miss being away from their various homes while in the classroom.

Yes, I'm very loving and caring. But beyond that, I need to make every child feel valued and wanted in the classroom.

Sometimes ago, we had a new pupil in class. He hails from the North. His first week in class, he was always keeping to himself. I could see that he came prepared for the aftermath of being an 'aboki'. He was marvelled at the warm reception he received from members of the classroom. He kept singing the praises of his new friends and teacher at home. His father paid a courtesy visit to the school and was full of joy and thanks. He didn't expect the boy to cope very fast like that.

Dear Educators,

It is not enough to be kind and loving. Teach the kids to also show love and kindness.

It is not enough to exhibit good values, you must be able to model and teach the kids such kinds of values too.

As a teacher, I don't need to meet you face-to-face before having an idea of who you are. All I just need is to meet your pupil/student.

Food for thought:

When people have the opportunity to meet your pupils/students, what can they say about you?

What perspective can be drawn from you by the virtue of having a conversation with your pupils/students?

I had the privilege of having a one-on-one session with a family and their 3-children.

The father complained about the firstborn inability to grasp anything in school. His teacher and school are on the verge of asking him to repeat his current class.

It didn't take long to diagnose the problem. The young boy learns differently from his other siblings. His parents were trying to make him behave like his other siblings.

The young boy wants to go around the house with his marker and write everywhere he goes. He wants to draw and colour the fancy diagrams in his textbooks. He touches everything in the house and wants to dance around the house while doing his homework.

But his parents want him to sit down quietly like his other siblings. They want him to read and study quietly like his 'mates'. I diagnosed all these and I almost wept for the young boy who had a unique style of learning but his parents didn't notice. So they kept comparing and wishing.

I have said this countless times to parents, not every child will sit down quietly. Some will stand and move around. Some need to repeat after you, while a host of others are cool with folding their hands.

Discover the unique way your child learns before you crucify that child. I feel sad when I see children that should blossom and shine but their parents are busy comparing the child to another.

My latest book titled, 'HOW DOES YOUR CHILD LEARN' was designed to help parents discover the unique learning style of their children.

Pre-order is on for just #1000. It's a printable workbook that helps you study your child carefully and discover the unique way your child learns.

I'm excited already. To pre-order, pay the sum of #1000 to the account details in the comment section.

Cheers to a new beginning for you and your child.
