UNIZIK To Grant Amnesty To Overstayed Postgraduates between 8 and 10 that are yet to Graduate

According to a report gathered by the whistler, The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has concluded plans to grant what it called ‘amnesty’ to postgraduates of the university that have stayed between eight and ten years without graduation.

Many of such undergraduates got stuck either by carryovers or because they could not round off their theses and dissertations as the case may be. It is not stated if the amnesty would include a reduction of the accumulated school fees of the affected students.

A circular, being circulated by various departmental PG coordinators, read, “Postgraduate students who have spent eight to ten years or more in their programmes are kindly requested to make themselves known.

This is in view of the university’s plan to grant amnesty to such students.” The affected postgraduates were asked to send their details to their respective PG coordinator. #

Sit At Home: Governor Soludo Shuts Down Onitsha Main Market

In a decisive move to enforce compliance with the state’s directive against the controversial Monday sit-at-home order, Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has ordered the immediate shutdown of the Onitsha main market for one week in the first instance.

The action follows repeated defiance by traders at the popular Markets, who did not open for business despite a government warning to disregard the sit-at-home order imposed by non-state actors.

The order, which has disrupted economic and social activities across the Southeast for years, was publicly condemned by the Soludo administration, which urged residents to go about their lawful activities without fear.

The Governor stated that if they don't open at the expiration of the shut down, the market will be shut down for one month and so on and so forth, pointing out that the closure is a necessary step to protect law-abiding citizens and reinforce the authority of the state, stating that the government cannot stand by while a few individuals willfully undermine public safety and disregard official directives meant to restore normalcy.

Security personnel, including the police, army among others, were immediately deployed to seal the market gates and ensure compliances.

His Excellency, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has put a stop to non-attendance at schools on Mondays.

Accordingly, any teaching or non-teaching staff who refuses to report to school on Monday shall have their salary deducted.

The Nigerian team, Super Eagles has qualified for the quarter final of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) competition after beating the Mozambican team in a match held in FES stadium, Morroco.

Nigeria dominated the game in a match that showed discipline, resilience and unity with the active support of the crowd, both Nigerians, Morrocans and other football enthusiasts.

The Director General of NOA Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu leading the Agency' s support team was on ground to make sure the entire stadium is painted in Green, white, Green colours of Nigeria.

The win over Mozambique confirmed the warmth of the city of Fez which has hosted four matches of the Super Eagles and winning all.
