*Still on the issue of Quantity Surveyors and Engineering Cost Management. Find below a chat message engaging one if our members on the subject taken from another group* :
[23/11, 12:53 pm] ENGINEER TONOS: But this man said many wrong things about BEME. I see that QS are back to the trenches. I don't think they can win this war. Engrs have more professional logic to own the costing of their designs. QS are limited to building quantities even by their training. Are (u) they not ? Now you are a lawyer. You left them. 😃😃😃

*QS are limited to building quantities even by their training*.
Above has exposed your ignorance about QS as a profession.
Have you ever gone through NUC's minimum academic requirements for QS?
I am sure dt you have never bothered to do so.the in a few days
As a QS in the Ministry, I was coopted into Toll Plaza Cttee. In recommending payment, I discarded the initial recommendation of the Engineer and came up with a lower figure which the Contractor accepted. At the meeting to collate total amount required for all the Plazas, the said Engineer protested my figure which he considered as *unreasonable low. And I then asked the Contractor whether what was said by the Engineer was correct and he said *NO*.
I was at the Public Hearing on the Bills that the Distinguish Senator was contributing to in the said video and the Engineers present were very very uncomfortable with the general reactions of the public.
My approach to these agitations is simple.
1. This administration was elected on its promise *to fight corruption* and we perceive corruption in Bill No. 1 of BEME;
2. *Freedom of Information Act* empowers anybody to demand for information;
3. After an award, we apply to the Contractor to supply a copy of the contract documents including the working drawings;
4. *Failure to supply within 7 days* will lead to court action *to compel release and damages of N500,000.00 as stated in the Act*;
4. We shall then subject

The good news is that out 4370 qualified Quantity Surveyors as at last year NIQS induction in Nigeria,at least almost 2700 are HND holders and HND graduates find it so easy to pass TPC exam because of the fact that before written the TPC they must have passed through GDE exam and *you know what?*
