What does Safiyyah mean?
Salafiyyah means following the path of the prophet - salla LLAAHU 'alayhi wa sallam - and his companions, because they are the one who preceded (salaf) and came before us, therefore, following their (footsteps) is referred to as Salafiyyah.

"Anyone who send a single salutation upon me, Allah will send ten salawaat¹ upon him (in return), ten sins will be wiped away for him and he will be elevated in rank ten times."
