Dear Esteemed Students, Dedicated Staff, and Beloved Parents,

Warm greetings and heartfelt blessings to you all as we celebrate two beautiful occasions that remind us of gratitude, hope, faith, sacrifice, and love—Children’s Day and the blessed season of Sallah.

Today offers us an opportunity to celebrate the priceless gift of children and to appreciate the grace of God upon our families and school community. Our children are not only a source of joy and pride but also the future of our society, our communities, and our nation. Every child carries unique talents, dreams, and possibilities that deserve love, encouragement, guidance, and support.

To our dear students, this day is specially dedicated to you. You are precious, gifted, and deeply valued. As you continue your educational journey, remember that success comes through discipline, hard work, respect, perseverance, and faith in God. Never stop believing in your potential, never be afraid to dream big, and never allow temporary challenges to discourage you. Education is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourselves, and every lesson learned today prepares you for greater opportunities tomorrow.

We encourage you to remain focused, respectful, hardworking, and morally upright. Strive to become young men and women of integrity who will contribute positively to society and become worthy ambassadors of your families, school, and community. Always remember that greatness begins with little efforts consistently made, and your future is bright when guided by purpose, dedication, and good character.

To our committed and hardworking members of staff, we sincerely appreciate your patience, sacrifice, professionalism, and tireless commitment to nurturing and mentoring our students. Your daily efforts, encouragement, and guidance continue to shape minds, build confidence, and inspire excellence. The impact of your work extends far beyond the classroom, and we deeply value your dedication to raising disciplined, knowledgeable, and responsible young people.

To our beloved parents and guardians, we express our profound gratitude for your trust, support, prayers, and partnership. Your role in the growth and success of our students cannot be overstated. Together, through cooperation, guidance, discipline, and shared commitment, we continue to build a strong foundation for the future of our children. Thank you for entrusting us with the important responsibility of contributing to their education and moral formation.

As we also celebrate the sacred season of Sallah, we extend our warmest wishes to all Muslim students, staff, parents, and families within our school community and beyond. May this holy season bring peace, joy, blessings, renewed hope, and prosperity into your homes. May the spirit of sacrifice, love, generosity, tolerance, and unity that Sallah teaches strengthen our relationships and inspire us to live in peace and mutual respect with one another.

May this season of celebration renew our faith, deepen our sense of unity, and strengthen the bonds of friendship, understanding, and compassion among us. We pray that God continues to bless our students with wisdom and success, strengthen our staff with grace and fulfillment, and bless our parents and families with peace, good health, protection, and abundant blessings.

Together, let us continue to build a community where excellence, faith, discipline, peace, and mutual respect flourish.

FAITH, CHARACTER, AND TRUST IN GOD: A MESSAGE OF ENCOURAGEMENT TO SS 3 STUDENTS AS THEY PREPARE FOR THE NEXT STAGE OF LIFE.

By Rev. Fr. Paul Benjamin Waziri
Director, Bishop Joseph Danlami Bagobiri Academy, Fadan Karshi.
May 15th, 2026, As You Roundup SS3 Week.

Introduction

The transition from secondary school to the next phase of life is one of the most significant moments in the journey of every young person. For students in Senior Secondary School Three (SS 3), this period marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. Soon, many students will leave the familiar environment of classrooms, teachers, morning assemblies, and school routines to face a wider world filled with opportunities, responsibilities, challenges, and decisions that may shape their future for many years.

For some students, this transition brings excitement and hope. For others, it may come with fear, uncertainty, and many unanswered questions about admission, career paths, finances, family expectations, and the future itself. In the midst of all these realities, one important truth remains constant: no human being can successfully journey through life without faith, moral guidance, and trust in God.

This message is therefore addressed to you beloved students, be you Catholics, other Christians, and Muslims alike, with the aim of encouraging you to remain grounded in faith, discipline, good character, and hope as you prepare for the next level of life.

The Importance of Faith in Human Life

Human life is filled with both beautiful and difficult moments. There are times when things move smoothly and dreams appear close to reality. At other times, disappointment, failure, confusion, and hardship may arise unexpectedly. In such moments, human strength alone is often not enough.

Education is important. Intelligence is valuable. Hard work is necessary. Ambition can open doors. However, life sometimes presents situations beyond human understanding and control. A person may study hard and still face disappointment. Someone may make good plans and yet encounter obstacles. At certain points, people may experience betrayal from friends, rejection from institutions, financial struggles, emotional pain, or uncertainty about the future.

Faith in God helps people remain strong during such moments. Faith gives hope when situations appear hopeless. It gives courage during fear and direction during confusion. A young person who walks with God often develops inner peace, patience, self-control, and confidence that life still has meaning even during difficult seasons.
Faith also teaches responsibility and accountability. It reminds young people that success is not measured only by wealth, popularity, or material possessions, but also by integrity, honesty, compassion, humility, and service to humanity.

An Encouragement to Catholic and Christian Students

To Catholic students and fellow Christians, the next stage of life will expose many of you to new environments, new ideas, and different kinds of influences. Some of these influences may strengthen your faith, while others may attempt to weaken it.

In many parts of society today, moral values are gradually losing importance. Young people are sometimes encouraged to believe that success matters more than character, or that faith and prayer are signs of weakness. There is increasing pressure to follow trends, seek social approval, or compromise personal values in order to feel accepted.

As you move forward, do not abandon the spiritual foundations you have received from your families, churches, and communities. Remain committed to prayer and continue to build a personal relationship with God. Read and reflect on the Scriptures. Participate actively in worship and fellowship. Surround yourself with friends who encourage positive growth rather than destructive behaviour.

It is important to remember that education is not only about obtaining certificates or securing employment. True education should also help a person become morally responsible, spiritually mature, emotionally balanced, and socially useful.
A person may become academically successful yet fail in character. Therefore, never separate academic excellence from moral excellence. Your intelligence should go together with honesty, humility, discipline, and respect for others.

A Word to Muslim Students

To Muslim students, the values you have received through your faith remain important as you journey into adulthood. The fear of Allah, commitment to prayer, self-discipline, respect for parents, modesty, honesty, and compassion are qualities that can guide you safely through life’s challenges.
Modern society presents many temptations capable of distracting young people from their moral foundations. Some individuals may pressure you into unhealthy lifestyles, dangerous relationships, dishonesty, violence, or behaviours that conflict with the values of your faith.

Remain firm in the principles that promote peace, dignity, purity, responsibility, and respect for humanity. Continue to seek wisdom from God and guidance from responsible elders and mentors. The values of patience, self-control, humility, and perseverance are qualities that strengthen individuals and help them become responsible members of society.

Never allow temporary pleasures or peer pressure to destroy your future. True greatness is not found in reckless living but in discipline, integrity, and the ability to remain faithful to what is right.
Religious Tolerance and Peaceful Coexistence
Nigeria is a country blessed with religious and cultural diversity. In many schools and communities, Christians and Muslims live, study, and work together daily. Unfortunately, religion is sometimes misused to create division, hatred, suspicion, and conflict.

Young people must rise above such attitudes. Although individuals may worship differently, every human being deserves dignity, respect, and peaceful coexistence. No religion genuinely encourages hatred, violence, or destruction of innocent lives.

Students should therefore learn to appreciate one another despite religious differences. Friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect are necessary for national unity and peaceful development. The future of Nigeria depends greatly on young people who can build bridges of understanding rather than walls of division.

The society needs young men and women who value truth, justice, honesty, unity, tolerance, and peaceful dialogue. The ability to live peacefully with others is a sign of maturity and wisdom.
Important Values for the Next Stage of Life
As students prepare to move into higher institutions, vocational training, entrepreneurship, or other life pursuits, certain values remain essential for personal growth and success.

1. Choose Friends Wisely
Friendship has great influence on human behaviour. Many young people either rise or fall because of the company they keep. Good friends encourage discipline, hard work, honesty, and positive growth, while bad company can destroy dreams and reputations.

Beloved students, you should avoid friendships that promote crime, cultism, drug abuse, dishonesty, immorality, or violence.

2. Protect Your Moral Values
Character remains one of the greatest assets any young person can possess. A good name is often more valuable than material possessions. Therefore, students should remain truthful, respectful, disciplined, and morally upright.

Do not compromise your values simply to gain acceptance from others.

3. Avoid Drugs, Cultism, and Violence
One of the major dangers facing many young people today is involvement in harmful activities such as drug abuse, cultism, internet fraud, violence, and destructive social behaviour. These activities may appear attractive temporarily, but they often destroy lives, families, and destinies.

True strength is found in making wise decisions and resisting negative pressure.

4. Use Social Media Responsibly
Social media has become a powerful part of modern life. It can be used positively for learning, communication, business, and personal development. However, it can also become a source of distraction, misinformation, addiction, immorality, and unhealthy comparison.

Young people should learn to use social media wisely and responsibly. Not everything seen online represents reality. Protect your mental health, dignity, and future by avoiding harmful online behaviour.

5. Respect Parents, Teachers, and Mentors
Parents, teachers, religious leaders, and mentors play important roles in shaping the lives of young people. Their advice, corrections, sacrifices, and guidance should not be ignored.

Even when misunderstandings occur, students should maintain respect and gratitude toward those who sincerely desire their growth and success.

6. Never Be Ashamed of Prayer
Prayer remains a powerful source of strength and guidance. In moments of confusion, fear, disappointment, or uncertainty, prayer helps individuals reconnect with God and find peace within themselves.

Young people should never feel embarrassed about expressing their faith or seeking God’s direction.

7. Understand That Failure Is Not the End
Failure is part of human growth. Not every dream will happen immediately, and not every plan will succeed at first attempt. Some students may face delays in admission, financial difficulties, or setbacks in life. Such experiences should not lead to hopelessness.

Many successful people today once experienced rejection, disappointment, or failure before eventually succeeding. What matters most is the willingness to rise again, learn from mistakes, and continue moving forward with faith and determination.

Trusting God in Times of Uncertainty

One of the greatest fears among young people is uncertainty about the future. Questions about admission, career opportunities, relationships, finances, and personal purpose can create anxiety.
However, life itself is a journey of gradual discovery. No individual sees the entire future clearly from the beginning. Sometimes God does not reveal the full picture immediately. Instead, He guides people step by step.

Trusting God does not mean life will become free from challenges. Rather, it means believing that God remains present even during difficulties. Faith gives people the strength to continue moving forward even when the road ahead appears unclear.

Patience, prayer, hard work, and perseverance remain necessary virtues during uncertain times.

Conclusion

As SS 3 students prepare to enter a new stage of life, they must remember that true success is not measured only by academic achievement, wealth, or social status. Genuine success includes good character, moral discipline, spiritual growth, peaceful relationships, and trust in God.

A life without faith may achieve temporary success yet remain empty within. However, a life built on faith, integrity, humility, and responsibility will remain strong even during difficult times.
Therefore, as you step into the future, carry your faith with confidence, your dreams with courage, and your responsibilities with maturity. Remain hopeful even when life becomes challenging. Continue to trust God, remain disciplined, and strive to become individuals who will positively impact society.

May God guide and protect every student, grant wisdom in decision-making, strengthen faith during difficult moments, and bless each effort with peace, progress, and a bright future.

Shalom.

Prayer for Those Preparing for Marriage.

Heavenly Father,
You are the source of love and the author of marriage.
We thank You for the gift of love that draws Juliana and Jude together.

As they hope for the sacred union of marriage, pour out Your blessings upon them.

Teach them to love each other with patience and understanding, to forgive as You forgive, and to seek You always as the foundation of their marriage.

May their love be pure, selfless, and enduring, a reflection of Christ’s love for His Church.

Bless their families and friends who will eventually support them.
Guide them through their period of marriage preparation, that they may grow in faith, hope, and charity.

Grant them wisdom to make sound decisions and strength to face the challenges of life together.
When they eventually stand before Your altar, may their “yes” to each other be a “yes” to Your divine will.

And may their intention of getting married become a sign of Your unending love to the world.

Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
