"Teacher or Cheater?"

A Thought-Provoking Reflection

In every classroom, behind every desk, in front of every wide-eyed learner, stands a figure who holds enormous power — the power to shape, to guide, to influence, to correct, and sometimes, to destroy.

We call this figure teacher. But hidden beneath the title lies a question society rarely asks:

When does a teacher stop teaching and start cheating?

Not cheating in the exam sense — but cheating destiny, cheating potential, cheating the future entrusted into their hands.

1. The Thin Line Between Teaching and Cheating
A real teacher does more than transfer notes; they ignite curiosity, they awaken thought, they push learners towards discovery. But when a teacher becomes lazy, careless, or indifferent, they cheat their students out of the education they deserve.

A teacher who:

- Does not prepare but expects excellence,

- Demands respect without earning it,

- Punishes questions instead of encouraging them,

- Uses fear instead of motivation,

- Turns the classroom into a personal stage instead of a learning space…

…is no longer teaching.

They are cheating — cheating young minds of their right to grow.

2. Cheating the Child’s Tomorrow
Every lesson a teacher skips, every concept they fail to explain, every wrong value they plant, becomes a crack in the foundation of a child’s tomorrow.

A child who is not taught critical thinking becomes an adult easily deceived.

A child who is not taught character becomes an adult easily corrupted.

A child who is not taught confidence becomes an adult who shrinks from opportunities.

So the question remains:

- Are you shaping futures, or short-changing them?

3. Cheating Goes Both Ways
Interestingly, students can cheat too — not just on tests, but on themselves. When a student refuses to study, seeks shortcuts, or avoids effort, they cheat themselves out of growth.

But the hard truth is this:

Students cheat because they see cheating modeled.

Children don’t only learn what you teach; they learn what you practice.

If a teacher cuts corners, students will too.

If a teacher shows passion, students will rise.

If a teacher is disciplined, students follow.

The classroom mirrors the teacher.

4. The Teacher Who Teaches
A true teacher is not defined by chalk, notes, or lesson plans. They are defined by:

- Presence: showing up fully, emotionally and mentally.

- Purpose: knowing why they teach.

- Integrity: doing what is right even when unseen.

- Compassion: seeing the child, not just the syllabus.

- Courage: choosing growth over comfort, progress over routine.

Such a teacher does not cheat — they change lives.

5. The Closing Challenge
Every educator must stand before the mirror of conscience and ask:

- Are my actions developing minds or damaging them?

- Am I building confidence or breeding fear?

- Am I inspiring excellence or encouraging shortcuts?

- Am I a TEACHER… or a CHEATER?

Because in the end, the title you carry doesn’t matter.

It is the impact you leave that will testify.

And the future — the one sitting quietly in your classroom — is watching.

Which will you choose to be?

Grades are not a window into a child’s heart.
Attendance records don’t reveal the weight of their anxiety.

But kindness? It has the power to reach places no report card ever could.

Every child carries dreams, fears, and feelings that go far beyond their academic performance.

As educators, parents, and mentors, let’s see the whole child—not just the numbers.

Let’s teach with patience, lead with love, and respond with understanding.

Happy Sunday from all of us at God's Mercy Schools and College, Saki

We love you big!

Today, let it be known to you all that there's no mountain you can't climb and there's no bridge you can't cross provided you set your heart to it.

Parents, teachers, and guardians, please encourage your children, and affirm it upon the tablet of their hearts that there's nothing they cannot achieve and there's no height they can't reach.

Listen to our beloved speaker, and be blessed.
