NTI's HOPE RENEWED WITH THE OUTCOME OF NUC ACCREDITATION, says Chief Executive -Prof.Daura

Prof. Sadiya Sani Daura, the Director and Chief Executive of the National Teachers' Institute (NTI)Kaduna, has expressed optimism and satisfaction with the outcome of the National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Panel's evaluation of the Institute's Bachelor degree programmes.

She made the remarks at the exit briefing of the accreditation exercise on Friday, January 30, at the Institute's Directorate Conference Room in Kaduna.

Prof. Daura stated that the outcome of the Accreditation Report has renewed the Institute's hope.

She said the NTI degree programmes are designed to address critical gaps in the education sector by producing competent, professional, and ethically grounded teachers who can effectively serve the needs of the country.

She stated that NTI is compliant with the NUC's Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS).

According to Prof. Daura, the Institute has strengthened its academic staffing, improved instructional facilities, enhanced curriculum delivery, and invested significantly in learning resources and quality assurance mechanisms.

" While we acknowledge that there is always room for improvement, we are confident that our programmes reflect our commitment to quality, relevance, and continuous improvement," she said.

She expressed profound appreciation to the NUC panel and the affiliating University, University of Maiduguri, led by the representative of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Mukaila, and other members of the team, Prof. Harun Bakari Rann, Director of Academic Planning, and Dr. Abubakar Abba Aji, Deputy Director of Affiliated Colleges of the University of Maiduguri.

The Institute's Chief Executive also commended the NTI Management Staff and other staff who contributed to the success of the exercise.

The Chief Executive further appreciated all suggestions and recommendations, as well as expressed commitment to full implementation.

"We are grateful for the NUC Accreditation Panel's thoroughness, professionalism, and objective assessment," she concluded.

During the exit briefing, Prof. Alphonsus Ovute, who chaired the Science Education group, commended NTI, saying it is a model institution with very good facilities.

The Team Lead for the English Language group, Oba Prof. Sunday Amuseghan, also said that through their interactions with both the academic and non-academic staff of NTI, they discovered that the philosophy and direction of the programmes are adequate.

The Team Lead for Primary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, and Social Studies group, Prof. Babatunde Adeniyi, also commented that NTI is now bouncing back and should be appreciated.

The outcome of the NUC Accreditation exercise, held between January 28 and 31, was a huge success for NTI.

NUC ACCREDITS NTI's BACHELOR DEGREE PROGRAMMES

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has commenced accreditation of the National Teachers' Institute (NTI), Kaduna bachelor degree programmes today, Thursday, January 29.

The accreditation exercise, which is taking place at the Institute's headquarters in Kaduna, is being carried out by a team from the NUC.

Receiving the team at the Directorate Conference Room, on behalf of the Director and Chief Executive, Prof.Sadiya Sani Daura, the Institute's Acting Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mal. Yusuf Idris Aliyu, said the Institute is deeply grateful to the National Universities' Commission (NUC) for the vital role it plays in ensuring quality assurance, relevance, and global competitiveness in the Nigerian educational system.

"Your presence here today, underscores that commitment, and we appreciate the opportunity to subject our facilities, programmes, and processes to your professional assessment," he said.

Mal Aliyu stated that over the years, NTI has made investments in human resources, infrastructure, curriculum development, and student support services. He said the accreditation provides the Institute with an opportunity not only to showcase what it has achieved, but also to receive constructive feedback that will guide its continuous improvement.

The Ag.Registrar, therefore, assured the NUC Accreditation team of full cooperation throughout the exercise.

In his remarks, the representative of the Vice Chancellor, University of Maiduguri, Prof. Mohammed Mukaila, who is also the Director of Affiliated Colleges of the University, said the accreditation exercise is mainly for improvement.

He said NUC, Unimaid, and NTI are working towards the same goal. Prof.Mukaila said the standard of education in Nigeria is not falling; but it is the system that needs improvement.

Speaking on behalf of the NUC Accreditation team, His Majesty, Oba Prof. Sunday Amuseghan, having appreciated NTI for organising the briefing meeting, said they were at the Institute to assess and identify gaps for improvement.

The NUC Accreditation team assessed the Institute's physical facilities and engaged staff on discussion and scrutiny during the accreditation exercise. The exercise continues tomorrow.

FG REWARDS NTI CENTRE MANAGER, 11 OTHERS AS OUTSTANDING TEACHERS

The Federal government has rewarded a Centre Manager for Doka Study Centre of the National Teachers' Institute(NTI), in Kaduna State, Mal Musa Abubakar Garba and 11 others nationwide for outstanding performance, and excellence in teaching. The government reaffirmed that teachers are the cornerstone of Nigeria's educational transformation.

Delivering her keynote address, the Chairperson of the National Teachers' Summit and the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, described teachers as the quiet architects of great nations, emphasising that no nation can progress without adequately motivating and equipping its educators.

She reaffirmed that education remains central to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.

The First lady made the remarks at the event celebrating the 2026 National Teachers' Summit on Tuesday, January 27 at the State Banquet Hall in Abuja.

Speaking at the Summit, the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, described the teachers honoured at the event as exemplary professionals with integrity, innovation, and dedication to learning.

According to reports, each awardee received 25 million naira, with the overall best teacher, Mr. Solanke Taiwo, who received 50 million naira, a car, and a two-bedroom furnished house.Stakeholders across the country have applauded the gesture as an effective support and motivation by the government to revive and honour teaching and teachers.

In a letter of correspondence, the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Prof. Sawaiba Sa'id Ahmad, stated that the summit was designed to serve as a high-level national platform that brings together key education stakeholders, including policymakers, state governments, development partners, education administrators, teachers' unions, professional bodies, and private partners.

The two-day National Teachers' Summit, themed "Empowering Teachers, Strengthening the System: A National Agenda for Education Transformation and Sustainability," also featured the launch of the Edurevamp online Teacher Professional Development portal. The portal aims to enhance teachers' continuous learning, capacity building, and skills development.

The launch was performed by the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa'id Ahmad, and was supported by Prof. Sadiya Sani Daura, Director and Chief Executive of NTI Kaduna, Dr. Ronke Soyombo, Registrar and Chief Executive of TRCN, and other stakeholders.

The lead paper of the summit was delivered by Emeritus Prof.PAI Obanya, of the Institute of Education, University of Ibadan.

Highlight of events at the summit, were the presentations of papers and capacity building as well as discussion and engagement on the theme of the summit by stakeholders.

The 2026 National Teachers' Summit, which was attended by the crème de la crème of the education sector, was the first of its kind in recent times.

NTI STUDENTS TO BENEFIT FROM KADUNA STATE SCHOLARSHIP PACKAGE

The indigent students from Kaduna State studying for the Nigeria Certificate in Education with the National Teachers' Institute (NTI), Kaduna, have commenced physical verification and enrollment in readiness for the award of scholarships by the Kaduna State government through the State Scholarship and Loan Board.

Speaking at the occasion, which was held at the NTI headquarters in Kaduna on Monday, January 26, the Director and Chief Executive of NTI, Prof. Sadiya Sani Daura, represented by the Acting Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mal.Yusuf Idris Aliyu, said the scholarship would have a significant impact on the lives of NTI students, enabling them to pursue their academic dreams and contribute to the development of Kaduna State.

" This scholarship intervention will benefit numerous students, enabling them to focus on their studies and achieve their academic goals. It will also promote education and development in the state, " she stated.

The Institute's Director and Chief Executive, having commended the Kaduna State Executive Governor, Sen. Uba Sani, for his dedication to education and students' empowerment, said the initiative demonstrates the governor's commitment to empowering the youth in the state and promoting academic excellence.

Declaring the verification and enrollment exercise open, the Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Scholarship and Loan Board, Prof. Yahaya Saleh Ibrahim, stated that the first priority in education is ensuring there are good quality and trained teachers.

He said NTI has assured the board that it is going to train the students to also acquire practical skills.

In her remarks, the representative of the Executive Chairman of Kaduna State SUBEB, Dr. Christy Ayi Aladimere, Permanent Member, Human Resource Management, emphasised that education remains the foundation of sustainable development. She urged the beneficiaries to remain focused and disciplined.

Dr. Ayi, therefore, commended the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Sen. Uba Sani, for investing in teacher education and congratulated the beneficiary students.

Earlier, while delivering an overview of the nature of the scholarship, the Special Assistant on Scholarship Matters to the Executive Secretary of Kaduna State Scholarship and Loan Board, Dr. Haulat Modu, informed the beneficiaries that they should feel proud to be with NTI and have received such scholarship privileges.

During the event, two students were symbolically enrolled for the scholarship, marking its public unveiling and signaling the commencement of the scheme for Kaduna NTI students.

The scholarship, which is the first of its kind for distance learning students, is expected to ease the financial burden and offer opportunities for the students.

The development is considered as a milestone recorded by Prof. Sadiya Sani Daura's current administration at NTI, as it encourages states to include NTI students in their scholarship scheme.

I FEEL IMPRESSED, WHENEVER PROGRAMMES ARE MONITORED, says NTI Chief Executive

The Director and Chief Executive of the National Teachers' Institute(NTI) Kaduna, Prof. Sadiya Sani Daura, said she feels impressed whenever there is monitoring of programmes.

Prof. Daura disclosed this while responding to the outcome of a monitoring exercise presented by the visiting Zambian Team on SMASE to NTI Kaduna on Wednesday, January 21, at the Directorate Conference Room.

The Institute's Chief Executive, who described the world as a global village, stated that advancement is inclusive, and urged the Zambian team to continue sharing, exploring, and supporting collaborative programmes, such as SMASE.

" I am happy with what you have found.Education can address a lot of social ills and we are going to work together," Prof.Daura emphasised.

She said Nigerian teachers will be appreciated at the forthcoming National Teachers' Summit, and the government has a plan to train and upgrade 1.5 million teachers.The Institute's Director and Chief Executive stated that under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with the two vibrant ministers, Dr.Tunji Alausa, Minister of Education, and Prof. Suwaiba Sa'id Ahmed, Minister of State for Education, the whole education system is witnessing an overhaul.

Earlier, while delivering a brief on the outcome of the visit, the Zambian Team Lead, Mr. Shift Mweebo, a senior education officer in charge of Mathematics with the Ministry of Education, Zambia, said they are in NTI Kaduna to monitor the implementation of the Zambia 2025 Knowledge Co-creation Programme and to take lessons on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education at the Strengthening Mathematics and Science Education(SMASE), National INSET Centre, Kaduna.

Mr.Mweebo said the performance of the NTI SMASE National Trainers, as indicated in the monitoring report, is very exemplary and impressive.

"We have seen the positive impact of the Knowledge Co-creation Programme, especially on those who attended the programme, and we have toured and witnessed the impressive learning facilities NTI possesses," he said.

Mr. Mweebo further stated that SMASE products are an outcome that serves as evidence of the practical knowledge gained during the programme. He, therefore, appreciated the quality assurance mechanism evident in and attached to the training as well as commended the mode of cascading the training.

"Our team has seen the demonstration of a learning environment, and the SMASE National Trainers are the vision carriers for the future," he added.

He further commended the government of Nigeria for its support and cooperation, as well as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), as a partner, for giving them the opportunity to assess the impact of the knowledge co-creation programme.

Also speaking at the exit briefing, the Head of SMASE National INSET Centre, Mal. Misba'u Adamu Sani, having appreciated the SMASE Zambia team from the National Science Centre, Zambia, informed the team that all the feats recorded by the centre were possible as a result of the support of the NTI Director and Chief Executive, Prof.Sadiya Sani Daura.

The team were taken to a tour of the Institute's facilities on Tuesday and Wednesday.

NTI GETS READY FOR BACHELOR DEGREES ACCREDITATION

The National Teachers' Institute (NTI), Kaduna, under the leadership of Prof. Sadiya Sani Daura, Director and Chief Executive, is gearing up for the accreditation of its Bachelor Degree programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

In her commitment to ensure a successful accreditation exercise, Prof. Sadiya Sani Daura, the Institute's Chief Executive, while monitoring preparations and readiness, also received a progress briefing on Thursday, January 15 from the Institute's Accreditation Committee,led by Dr. Oyedeji Mobolaji Omobola, Director of the Academic Services Department.

While receiving progress reports at Directorate Conference Room II from various heads of departments, Prof. Daura interacted with staff members of the Institute who were assigned responsibilities in preparation for the accreditation exercise.

She further embarked on inspecting facilities within the Institute to ensure that the physical facilities at the e-learning Centre, Library, SMASE Integrated Science and Mathematics Laboratories, and NTI Kaduna State Office are prepared for the exercise.

Prof. Daura, having carried out the physical facilities' inspection alongside management staff and members of the NTI Accreditation Committee, expressed hope that NTI will meet expectations. She, therefore, charged the Accreditation Committee to be on its feet as the exercise draws closer this January.

The NUC Accreditation Committee will be at the Institute this January for the accreditation of the Institute's bachelor degree programmes.

The departments at the Institute, namely the Directorate, Registry, Bursary, FOSS and Quality Assurance, Academic Services, Examinations, and ICT Departments, have expressed their readiness for the exercise.

A MERRY CHRISTMAS: NTI CHIEF EXECUTIVE FELICITATES CHRISTIANS ON CHRISTMAS

Prof. Sadiya S. Daura, the NTI Chief Executive wishes the Institute community, stakeholders, friends, and host communities joyous end-of-year activities and a Prosperous New Year in advance.

In a statement issued for the Christmas celebration, the Institute's Director and Chief Executive urged all Christian brothers and sisters at the Institute and across Nigeria to use the period to pray for the Institute for improved educational development, and also for the security of the country.

As the year draws to an end,

"I sincerely thank you for your hard work and dedication. I acknowledge how your contributions have driven us to where we are today. We have recorded a lot of achievements: 10,429 certificates from our affiliating universities NOUN, UDUS, UNIMAID, ZIK & UNILORIN dating as far back as 2013 have been secured and are ready for collection.

"All claims received from facilitators for outstanding payments have been paid, therefore, anybody that has not received their payment should report to their state coordinators. I am happy to declare that for now, sanity in the conduct of our semester examinations has been largely restored.

"In addition to examinations-related matters, the problem connected to the Institute's failed results processing Server has been tackled and henceforth, results will be released as at when due.

ACCOLADES, RELIEF, AS NTI COLLECTS 6,884 PGDE CERTICATES FROM NOUN

-Prof. Daura says More are Coming

Prof. Sadiya Sani Daura, Director and Chief Executive of the National Teachers' Institute (NTI) Kaduna, has collected 6,884 Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) certificates from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in Abuja on Wednesday, December 17, through her administrative concerted efforts.

Stakeholders and observers noted that this development will undoubtedly bring relief to the graduates, who have completed their PGDE programme, marking the culmination of their academic efforts and success.

In a statement issued, the certificates secured from NOUN are for the period 2013 to 2017, and are already at the Institute and will soon be dispatched to various state offices for the students.

This is a milestone for Prof. Daura, who has expressed further commitment to securing the release of all pending certificates from all the affiliated universities.
