They thought building an automated door would be the easy part.
Then the door refused to cooperate. 😅

The sensors weren’t responding. The system wasn’t working as expected. So they had to go back to the basics, revisit what they’d learned, and figure out where the pieces connected.

Sometimes, solving a new problem means returning to something you thought you already understood.

And that’s the kind of problem-solving we want them to learn: stay with the problem until you figure it out.

They got to explore how a gas and fire detection system works connecting sensors, testing the alarms, and watching their ideas come to life.

Today, our creators stepped up to the pitch table and said, “Here’s my idea.”
Bold ideas, big imaginations, and kids confident enough to stand up and say: “This is what I want to build.”

And honestly?
Some of these ideas are giving!
But this is only the beginning.

A parking lot that counts its own cars!

That’s what this team built, a smart parking system using ultrasonic sensors to track every car in and out, and only lift the gate when there’s actually space. No attendant needed.

The kids who built this are under 15!

This isn’t a toy version of a real idea. It’s the kind of system already running in malls and office buildings, built from scratch by children who are still years away from a driver’s license!

Give a child a real-world problem, and they won’t build you a pretend solution.

Climate change is a conversation we all need to be part of, especially the next generation.

At Rising Voices 0.3, we joined other changemakers to engage young minds on climate change, environmental challenges, wildlife protection, pollution, erosion and more.

Our facilitators also introduced the kids to how technology can be used to respond to some of these real world challenges, giving them the opportunity to turn what they learned into practical solutions.
