What will you do if someone suddenly collapses? 🚨🩺

The first few minutes can matter.

Check – Call – Compress – Defibrillate.”

🚨 If someone suddenly collapses: CPR/AED quick guide

1. Ensure safety

*Make sure the scene is safe before approaching.

* Check responsiveness

Tap the shoulders and shout: “Are you okay?”

If they don't respond, treat it as an emergency.

3. Check for breathing.

* Look for normal breathing.

* Occasional gasping/agonal breaths are not normal breathing.

4. Call for help immediately.

* Send someone to call your local emergency service and bring an AED if available.

* If you're alone and have a phone, use a speakerphone while starting CPR.

5. Start chest compressions.

* Place both hands in the centre of the chest.

* Push hard and fast.

* Rate: 100–120 compressions/minute.

*Depth for an adult: about 5–6 cm (2 inches).

Allow the chest to fully recoil after each compression.

6. Give rescue breaths if trained

* Use 30 compressions : 2 breaths.

* If you're not trained or unwilling to give breaths, hands-only CPR is still appropriate for an adult who has suddenly collapsed.

7. Use the AED as soon as it arrives.

* Turn it on and follow its voice/visual instructions.

* Expose and dry the chest and apply the pads as shown.

* Nobody should touch the person during rhythm analysis or shock delivery.

* Immediately resume CPR when instructed.

8. Continue until

* The person starts showing signs of life/normal breathing,

* trained medical personnel take over,

* the scene becomes unsafe, or

* you are physically unable to continue.

⚠️ Important point:-

Do not spend several minutes trying to find a pulse before starting CPR.
For an unresponsive adult who is not breathing normally, activate emergency help and begin CPR promptly.

For children and infants, CPR and AED procedures have important differences, particularly regarding compression depth and rescue breaths.

Don’t waste time giving an unconscious person food, water, or medication.

Knowing basic emergency response can make a difference before professional help arrives.

This is part of what Rohi 24 offers.
