Part 3b
ORGANIC CHEMISTRY
FRACTIONAL DISTILLATION MADE EASY — PART 3A!
Ever wondered how crude oil is separated into useful products?
In this episode, we break down fractional distillation step-by-step — from how hydrocarbons rise and condense in the fractionating column, to why boiling points matter, to how petrol, diesel, kerosene and more are formed. Clear, simple, visual learning to help you master Chemistry faster!
Whether you’re preparing for AQA, Edexcel, Cambridge IGCSE, WAEC, NECO, JAMB, or North American school exams, this is your go-to guide.
Save this, share with a friend, and follow for more Chemistry made simple with Ruth’s Private Tutoring.
Let’s learn smarter, not harder!
Dive deeper into carbon chemistry!
In Part 2 of our Organic Chemistry series, we explore hydrocarbons—compounds made of only hydrogen and carbon. Learn the difference between short-chain and long-chain hydrocarbons and how their properties change: from flammability to viscosity and boiling points.
This lesson makes it easy to understand why chain length matters and how it affects real-life applications in fuels and industry. Perfect for GCSE (AQA & Edexcel), IGCSE, WAEC, NECO, and students in the US and Canada looking to strengthen their chemistry foundations.
Unlock the world of carbon!
In this first part of our Organic Chemistry series, we break down what organic chemistry really is — the study of carbon-based compounds and their incredible structures. Meet the first four alkanes: methane, ethane, propane and butane, plus the general formula CnH₂n+2, your key to identifying any alkane!
Perfect for GCSE (AQA & Edexcel), IGCSE, WAEC, NECO, and North American students looking to master the basics with ease.
Let’s learn smarter together!

The magnetic field of a bar magnet (or Earth’s magnetic field) is strongest at the poles.
Why?
1. Magnetic field lines crowd most densely at the north and south poles.
2. The closer the field lines, the stronger the magnetic field.
3. At the equator, the field lines spread out more, so the strength is weaker.
Simple way to remember
Field lines are packed at the poles and strong field
Field lines are spread at the equator and weaker field
