The Senate, SUG Uniport

Yesterday, the Senate President, Sen. Golden Okey-Nwala led the delegation of legislators from the University of Port Harcourt on a visit to the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo, to express our deepest appreciation for his invaluable contributions to the growth and progress of our beloved state. In recognition of his outstanding service and dedication, we proudly decorated him as a Patron on Legislative Affairs to the Students’ Union Government at the University of Port Harcourt.

During our visit, we also had the honor of presenting the maiden edition of our Students’ Union Legislative Magazine, titled ‘Legislative Gazette’. We are thrilled to announce that our esteemed Patron, Rt. Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo, has graciously endorsed the maiden edition of the Students’ Union Legislative Magazine and has promised to contribute an insightful article in this edition, sharing his wealth of knowledge on Parliamentary Diplomacy.

The Legislative Gazette highlights valuable lessons learnt from our excursion to the National Assembly and covers all the events from our Students’ Union Legislative Week. It also serves as a platform to highlight legislative achievements, discuss important political and social issues, and promote civic engagement within our university community and beyond. We are also excited to offer opportunities for articles and business advertisements in the magazine. This is a fantastic chance for local businesses to reach a broad audience and support a student-led initiative.
