⚠️ SAFETY ALERT: HIGH-RISK INSTALLATION IN WET WEATHER

The Situation
An installer working on a steep-pitched corrugated metal roof (30°–45°+) during rainfall, without fall-protection gear, using only an unsecured ladder.

⛔ Key Hazards

· ❗ Zero traction – Wet zinc/aluminium becomes ice-slick, making slips nearly inevitable.
· ⚡ Severe shock risk – Rain lowers skin resistance; wet roofs become conductive paths for solar DC current.
· 🔧 Tool loss – Wet hands increase the likelihood of dropping heavy panels or tools onto workers below.

🚫 Why You Must NOT Work in the Rain
Water removes friction, neutralises footwear grip, and turns standard installation into a lethal combination of falls and electrocution. All work must pause immediately when rainfall begins.

✅ Essential Prevention Steps

· ☔ Stand down in rain – Stop all roof work and wiring. Resume only when surfaces are fully dry.
· 🦺 Mandatory fall protection – Full-body harness + shock-absorbing lanyard anchored to a secure peak point.
· 🪜 Secure ladder setup – Extend 3 ft above roofline; secure top and bottom; ensure slip-resistant footing on firm ground.
· 🧗 Use roof ladders/creepers – Roof hooks or ridge ladders provide stable, flat footing on steep pitches.
· 🧤 Insulated, grip-rated gear – Wear wet-rated boots and insulated gloves for slip and shock protection.

Here is the Top 5 CCTV Accessories list with relevant icons for quick visual reference:

1. 🔌 Power Supply / Adapter
Provides stable power to your CCTV cameras and DVR/NVR.
A poor-quality power supply can cause camera restarts, image issues, or even hardware damage.
Pro Tip: Always use a high-quality, branded power adapter.

2. 📡 BNC Connectors & Coaxial Cables (For Analog CCTV)
Used to transmit video signals from analog cameras to the DVR.
High-quality cables reduce signal loss and improve video quality.
Pro Tip: Choose pure copper cables for the best performance.

3. 💾 Surveillance Hard Drive (HDD)
Stores your CCTV recordings 24/7.
Surveillance HDDs are specifically designed for continuous recording and offer better reliability than standard desktop drives.
Pro Tip: Use surveillance-grade drives such as WD Purple or Seagate SkyHawk.

One of the most common complaints I receive from CCTV users is:

“I can’t view my cameras on my phone. It keeps saying OFFLINE.”

If you’re facing this problem, don’t panic. Here are some common reasons:

✅ 1. Internet Connection Is Down
Your DVR, NVR, or IP camera needs a stable internet connection for remote viewing. If your router has no internet, your cameras will appear offline.

✅ 2. Power Supply Problem
If the recorder or camera isn’t receiving proper power, it will disconnect from the network.

✅ 3. Wi-Fi Signal Is Weak
For wireless cameras, a weak Wi-Fi signal can cause frequent disconnections and make the camera appear offline.

✅ 4. Data Bundle Has Expired
If you’re using a 4G SIM camera or router, check whether your data subscription is still active.

✅ 5. Network Cable Issue
A damaged or loose Ethernet cable can disconnect your recorder or camera from the network.

✅ 6. Router Restarted or Settings Changed
Changing your Wi-Fi password, replacing your router, or resetting your network can disconnect your CCTV from the internet.

✅ 7. Poor Installation
Improper cable termination, poor power connections, or incorrect network configuration can also lead to an offline system.

Before You Call an Installer, Check These:

✔ Is your router connected to the internet?
✔ Are the DVR/NVR and cameras powered on?
✔ Are the network cables securely connected?
✔ Can other devices access the internet?
✔ If you’re using a SIM card, is your data plan active?

Most “Offline” issues can be resolved in just a few minutes once you identify the actual cause.
