"If a child memorises 10 words, the child can only read 10 words. But if a child learns 10 sounds, the child will be able to read 350 three - letter sound words, 4 320 four - letter sound words and 21 650 five - letter sound words."

"Anyone can have a child and call themselves "a parent". A real parent is someone who puts that child above their own selfish needs and wants."π€π€π€
This testimony right here points to all the benefits there are to get from #. πππ
The school and home are both stakeholders (50/50) in a child's learning journey. If a child gets at least a 40/40 input from both ends, that's already an A (80 and above) shooting π the child to ultimate success in every endeavor..

"BEHIND THE CHILD THAT MAKES THE MOST PROGRESS, IS AN ACTIVELY INVOLVED PARENT".
Last Friday, we had our Open Day/Parents' - Teachers" Conference at school. π«
A good number of parents turned up to see their children's work, speak with the class teachers and also track their children's learning/academic progress.
As a school, we also ceased the opportunity to do a mini - orientation, putting the parents through how we learn in the Early Years Classroom & the Elementary Classroom; set skills, pedagogy, methodology and the objectives for each of these activities.βπ½βπ½βπ½
We carried out some practical activities to show how we break down complex topics using didactic materials, and reinforce learning to achieve set objectives. ππ½ππ½ππ½
Before the orientation/meeting, parents had the opportunity to go round their children's classes to see their work for themselves, they took a good look at the Reward/Star β charts and had an idea π‘ about the performance level ποΈ of their children amongst their peers.
Most of them went back home promising to put in more time, effort and intent in helping their children learn well and perform better in school π«, they didn't need a soothsayer to tell them otherwise. ππ½ββοΈππ½ββοΈππ½ββοΈ
If only every parent can find time once in a while to come in and check their children's progress in this learning journey, our work as teachers and school administrators will be half done, and the big - big grammar we speak in the homework diaries and progress reports will be a bit reduced. ππ½ββοΈππ½ββοΈππ½ββοΈ
Dear parents, we all need to be intentional in raising our children, the work is not to be left to the school π«π alone. It's a 50/50 thing, we are both stakeholders in this matter.
Remember it's a "work in progress".
Paying school fees only and going to sleep π€π΄ will not do what is needed.
The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is in the #, that's why some children make their papers at first sitting, and get almost all the awards on Prize - Giving Day π while the others look on as spectators.
This is just the first term, and there's enough time to start being involved in your child's learning in order to help him/her achieve the desired milestones. βπ½βπ½βπ½
God's grace is sufficient πͺ for us all - Amen!!! πππ
----------------------------------
A parent-teacher conference is a great opportunity to share academic progress and growth based on classroom observations, monitoring, testing data, assessments, portfolios, and assignments done with a child and shared with parents.
Teachers in turn will learn from parents and guardians so they can be better informed about students' strengths, needs, behaviors, and learning styles.
The benefits of a PTC are numerous and not limited to the following; πππ
π Goal setting.
π Improves learning outcomes.
π Encouraging parent involvement.
π Improves academic performance.
π Enhanced behaviour modifications.
π Helps children take ownership & responsibility of their learning journey.
π Unity between teachers and parents.
π Creates a total synergy between the school and the home etc..
