Commercial and Industrial Trade Centre apart from general education provides both Science, Technical and Business Oriented Education, covering a wide range of interest within a disciplined framework under the National Policy on Education (6-3-3-4). Affording our Nation the springboard for Technological development and Self-Reliance. Any school without these objectives is not a good school. Furthermore, in this era when discipline and accountability has gone down the drains, educational Institutions which are supposed to be the pace setters in both moral and disciplined living has become one of the areas where deceit and low moral practice are exhibited without any remorse. It is therefore necessary for the parents not to be deceived by newspaper and Radio advertisements without properly cross-checking the reputation of the educational institutions they want their children to attend. Building alone does not guarantee a good reputation for academic achievement. It is ridiculous that some of the schools advertising and charging high school fees are not approved centre for any school examination by the States or Federal governments. Students of those school are made merchandise of trade by the Proprietors of these fake schools who charge higher fees and send them to approved schools to write their examinations. Commercial and Industrial Trade Centre which is Government Approved Private College for both junior and Senior Secondary School is situated in Nkpor-Rumuolumeni in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. It is in a rural area which is outside the clustered, boisterous and polluted areas of Port Harcourt metropolis. Accessibility is very easy by road through Rumuepirikom popularly known as Wimpey Junction (COE) Road, leading to Rumuolumeni along NNS Okemini, Aker Base and Saipem Companies where the Road terminates into the Bonny Rivers. Little drops of water, it is said, make a mighty ocean. This saying and philosophy behind it has for more than three decades now guided step by step, the growth of Commercial and Industrial Trade Centre into the present enviable status of adulthood as an institution. The road was long, the trek tedious and the destination almost a mirage. But with our determination, unswerving and fervent faith to succeed, we have come thus far today. It is not that we are trying to sing our own song or blow our own trumpet. That would be still premature at this stage, as we believe that there are yet many more grounds to explore in our quest to give the best form of education to our young ones in whose hand is the future generation. Commercial and Industrial Trade Centre was founded in 1965 to educate boys and girls from all states of Nigeria as well as from Overseas whose parents want to have the best kind of upbringing for them. With this complement of students the school has strived to achieve both National as well as an international character. More specifically the aims of Commercial and Industrial Trade Centre are:
1. To-render philantropic and educational service to all Nigerians and Non-Nigerians irrespective of s*x, religion or social status.
2. To encourage in the minds of students a very high sense of discipline, inspire them with the love of excellence and equip them with the requisite intellectual skills for precision in perception, thinking and expression by helping them to respect and value their own talents and develop them to be self-Reliant to the fullest possible extent.
3. To positively encourage the formation of World values and the development of Christian faith together with responsible self discipline.
4. To ensure that student are prepared to adjust to the challenges of a rapidly changing world by developing attitudes of tolerance and capacity to understand people with different views and of other cultures through experiments of living and working together, and through the study of Nigerian culture Art and languages as well as the world’s cultural heritage.
5. To encourage leadership qualities in all students such as high moral standards, truthfulness determination and integrity.
6. To encourage responsible decision making and independence of thought with particular analysis on domestic, community, national and international issues.
7. To encourage a co-operative attitude in a wide range of curricular and extra curricular activities and awareness of and a commitment to inter-dependence through group and team experience. To achieve the afore-mentioned aims, it is part of the programme of the school to involve parents in the upbringing of their children. To this end, parents will be invited to visit and give valuable talks to students on various sound and philosophical topics relevant to the aims and objectives of the school. Informal discussion with staff and students will also be encouraged.
