*Who is your examiner?*

In internal examinations, your examiner is most likely to be your teacher or lecturer. In which ever case, find out his or her special interests; what books or papers has he published; etc. answers to these questions may give you a fair sight into the kind of questions to expect. In the case of external examiners, it may be difficult to know them.

To prepare for an examination with an external examiner, follow these steps:

1. *Understand the exam format*: Familiarize yourself with the exam structure, duration, and content coverage.

2. *Review course material*: Study your notes, textbooks, and any other relevant resources thoroughly.

3. *Practice with sample questions*: Look for sample questions online or in study guides to get a sense of the exam's questioning style.

4. *Focus on key concepts*: Identify crucial topics and concentrate your studying on those areas.

5. *Manage your time effectively*: Create a study schedule to ensure you cover all material before the exam.

6. *Stay organized*: Keep your study materials, including notes and practice questions, organized and easily accessible.

7. *Get enough sleep and stay healthy*: Make sure you're well-rested and maintain a healthy lifestyle to perform your best on the exam.

8. *Stay calm and focused*: Develop relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing or visualization, to help manage exam-day nerves.

Calvary greetings everyone.

We shall be considering the 3rd principle of academic success, which I term as:

*Plan for Success and Work your Plan*

As in every aspect of life, planning is a pre-condition for Success. In an examination, working without a plan is like going on a journey without knowing your destination. Without a well-structured plan, what you consider as hard work may be useless distraction or digression. plan your work and follow your plans. To achieve this, have:
1. *Clear objectives*
Thehis is the foundation of a good plan. Be sure you know what you want out of your education seek the help of your parents teachers and counselors to choose a career. The career will help you choose subject for which you have interest, and besides you will be able to determine the minimum grade to aim for.

2. *Develop a yearly plan*
Depending on what you want out of your education, you can develop a plan to cover the entire year. In developing your annual plan, take into consideration the examinations you must take within the year, the aspects of your syllabus that must be covered and the notes and texts that must be revised.

3. *Term plan*
It is important to have a plan for each term within the context of your annual programme. It is here that specific should be more on examinations for that particular term, though you have been revising generally and regularly. Your typical term plan therefore should indicate: examinations that are coming up, if they're internal or external, when they are scheduled and what assignments, projects or tests you must write.

Calvary greetings to you all.

Today, we shall consider the second success principle, which will aid students to make better grades. The topic of today's discussion is: *Revising early and regularly with the confidence that breeds success*

A very important aspect of working hard involves early and regular revision. Here are some points to note:
1. Revise on daily basis. Make good use of your prep period to go through each day's subjects. Go beyond your notes and read the recommended texts.
2. Prepare a revision time table based on the syllabus. Ensure that the time table covers the syllabus.
3. Adopt an active revision system. Joy down the key points on an index card as you revise. Draw, practise and experiment (if the subject you are revising involves these activities).
4. Choose your peak period to revise subjects or topics you find difficult, as some people have different periods of the day whereby they can read best.
5. Choose a particular place of study. Man is a creature of habit. Arriving at your study place helps to put you in a study mood.
6. Group revision can be hei if if is not an excuse to avoid individual effort and exertion.

*General Success Principles*

Success, is an experience which is envied/ desired by almost all youths. However, many aren't actually getting a glimpse of it as a result of ignorance. No wonder the Holy Scriptures said: *"The labour of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city."* in
Ecclesiastes 10:15.

Let's consider the first salient success principle today, which I have termed as:

1. *Work Harder, work better and success will knock at your door*

Permit me to say that the number one law of success in any examination is to work hard. This simply means to prepare very well for the examination. This is the actual foundation of all other principles. It is also important to note that you must work in the right direction.

Working harder and better involves the following:
1. Realisation
2. Regular attendance
3. Attentive listening
4. Necessary tools and materials
5. Diligence in doing assignments
6. Regular and early revision.
