Effective Strategies for Teaching Children

Teaching children is a complex and rewarding endeavor that requires careful consideration of various factors to ensure effective learning outcomes. I will outline some key facts and strategies that teachers should keep in mind when instructing young learners.

🌲Engagement and Interaction:
One of the fundamental principles of teaching children is the importance of engagement and interaction. Children's attention spans are shorter, and they learn best when actively participating. Incorporating hands-on activities, games, and interactive discussions can maintain their interest and promote effective learning.

🌲Clear and Concise Instructions:
Clear communication is crucial when working with children.Aa a teacher , work at providing instructions that are simple, concise, and easy to understand. Use visual aids, demonstrations, and examples to enhance comprehension and reduce confusion.

🌲Differentiated Instruction:
Each child learns differently, so as a teacher tailor your instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities. Incorporate a variety of teaching methods—visual, auditory, kinesthetic—ensure that all student have opportunities to succeed.

🌲Positive reinforcement and Motivation:
Positive reinforcement plays a significant role in motivating young learners. Praising efforts, acknowledging achievements, and celebrating progress can boost children's self-esteem and willingness to participate actively in their learning.

🌲Encouraging Curiosity and Questions:
Encouraging children to ask questions and express their curiosity without being shut up fosters a love of learning. Teachers should create a safe space where no question is considered insignificant and where curiosity is nurtured

These are few out of many. But Note; When teaching children, it requires a combination of patience, creativity, adaptability, and empathy. So by considering these key facts and implementing these strategies, You as a teacher will create a positive and effective learning environment that nurtures the intellectual, social, and emotional development of young learners.

Will your babies be resuming tomorrow?

Most parents are experiencing mixed feelings, on one hand anticipating the first day of school and on the other, calculating huge school bills that need to be paid.

However, before you jump for joy, remember that back to school also means resuming your early morning duties of getting the kids ready for school, packing lunch and loads of homework to boot.

To prevent any last-minute hassles and stress, here are a few tips to help you transition seamlessly into “back to school” activi here are a few tips to help you transition seamlessly into “back to school” activities.

🎀 INTRODUCE A BEDTIME ROUTINE
Get them back into an earlier bedtime routine and wake them at the time they will need to get up for school.
This will help them get used to the routine and reduce any arguments that may arise on the first day of school and even on subsequent days.
According to the sleep foundation preschoolers (3 to 5 years) are recommended to sleep between 10 to 13 hours daily while school-aged children (6 to 13 years) are recommended to sleep between nine to 11 hours daily.so,If normal bedtime is 8pm, let them sleep at 7.30pm.

🎀WAKING UP THE BRAIN’

After “weeks of fun” spent during the long holiday, your child may struggle to get back into the mood for school work.

To counter this, as school resumes, introduce worksheets, reading and writing activities to your kids to help them prepare for academic work.

There are learning games online that can help kids “wake up the brain” and put them in the school mood quick.

🎀 NEW TERM GOALS

Review their last term assessment reports and results to determine areas to work on with their class teacher and have a discussion with your child.

If they are starting a new school, you can have conversations with your kid’s new teacher on the areas of improvement and realistic expectations.

🎀 SCHOOL DAY ROUTINE

When school actually starts, plan out school day routines. There is a time for everything including a time to wake, eat, go to school, do homework, house chores, play and go to bed.

Preparing all the items your child will use for the next day the evening before, will bring order to your life and save you time and a whole lot of stress.

🎀 Limit the time they spend watching TV.

If most children have their ways, they would not mind spending most of their time watching cartoon. So parents should cut down, and not stop, the time their children spend on the television.

🎀 Let them read one book per month to boost their reading habit and skill.
Reading is the best way to enrich your child's vocabulary, and an enrich vocabulary helps your kids express themselves better, think deeper and speak right.
At any level, reading has been identified as an ingredient for success, and it is particularly recommended for children so they could imbibe the habit as they grow up. Buy your child a book a month that is pitched at his/her reading level and request for written summary of the book, orally or in written form.read for the smaller ones...

🎀 Pay attention to their nutrition and health
🎀Pray for them and with them.

Hope this was helpful...

Someone might need this here

THE SEED

You see, some teachers are passers-by and some teachers are loyal to the core.

Today, the passer-by teachers are many in the sector but the loyal teachers are not many.

A passer-by teacher can leave a school to another school because of a token of just two thousand naira.

You see if you have a passer-by teacher, you would be frustrated.

Naturally, they have nothing to lose because they can leave at any time.

But when you see a loyal teacher, you will be glad you have one.

Let me share a story with you about a woman who had been working with a school for twelve years as an assistant teacher with her secondary school certificate.

She's loyal to the school owner to the core but she wasn't growing. There had been no real training nor additional qualification.

Her salary was nothing to write home about.

She was later advised to leave for another job.

Boom! She resumed in another school.

"What qualification do you have?" The new proprietor asked.

She said, "school certificate".

"Don't worry, I will pay for your studies. You will be starting a college of education soon."

The woman was happy. She didn't know when she began to pray for oga for his gestures.

Guess what?

She worked in that school for another five years.

There was tempting offer from other schools.

But, she didn't leave.

She was not ungrateful

She was happy that she's having NCE.

Today, she's fulfilled.

My advice is, when you see a loyal teacher who has not grown for years and you have the means, you can help such a teacher to grow.

Some teachers are ready to grow by furthering their education but have limited resources.

If you see any, kindly assist him or her. Automatically, you have sown a seed.

Sowing a seed goes a long way.

Have you sown a seed on a teacher before?

Think about it.

Look around you, you will see that someone needs that help.

Yes, you can.

Good morning Learned educators
WHAT TO BEAR IN MIND WHEN HANDLING SLOW LEARNERS.
No single technique or set of techniques is sufficient when teaching slow learners, the suggestions that follow are a starting point for developing instructional strategies that specifically address the learning needs of the slow learner.
So,Develop Lessons that Incorporate Students’ Interest s, Needs, and Experiences.
This helps address the short attention spans of slow learners. These students should be made to feel that some of the instruction has been designed with their specific interests or experiences in mind.As a classroom teacher, Frequently Vary Your Instructional Technique Switching from lecture to discussion and then to seat work provides the variety that slow learners need to stay engaged in the learning process.
In addition to keeping their attention, variety in instructional technique offers them the opportunity to see the same content presented indifferent ways. This increases opportunities to accommodate the different learning styles that may exist among slow learners and provides some of the remediation that may be necessary.
Hope you have learned.

Good morning Great Minds.

The core problem of slow learners’ education is their weak cognitive skills coupled with the slow speed learning. So as a teacher, you have to be understanding and patient toward their ability to get distracted easily and having a low attention span. Moreso, teachers must find creative ways to cope with this situation so that the entire class is not affected.
One of them is patient repetition.
Try repeating every basic instruction, keyword and concept time and again without being boring.
Do not over speak, but over teach.

Hope you have learned.

*TEN (10) MISTAKES NOT TO MAKE AS A 21ST CENTURY TEACHER*

(1.) Don't send a learner away from your class during teaching and learning as a result of bad behavior. This is because you cannot account for what the student may be doing outside and this can count against you if an accident occurs.

(2.) Don't touch a learner inordinately. This is because the learner might claim he or she was abused either sexually/physically.You may not be able to refute it.

(3.) Don't give assignments you don't have time to mark. Unmarked assignments or home work indicate incompetency/unprofessionalism.

(4.) Don't give emotional punishment to your learners. It reduces their chances of becoming a better learner.

(5.) Don't just teach within the period given to you, especially when you are preparing learners for external examinations. Do create more contact time for your learners.

(6.) Don't stay with a learner alone in a class, laboratory, office etc. Child's protection policy forbids it. Try and avoid "one corner" teaching.

(7.) Don't ask a child to kneel down for too long a time. He or she might have a health challenge you are not aware of.

(8.) Don't conspire against your school head( Head of Department, academic head etc). What goes around, comes around.

(9.) Don't be a difficult educator and avoid transferred aggression on any learner. Pocket your personal challenges and always be full of life.

(10.) Don't treat learners unequally. There should be nothing like favourite learner. Every child matters.

*Be Aware of Your Words and Thoughts…Mind Your Language!*

Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity we can choose to use this force constructively with words of encouragement, or destructively using words of despair. Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate and to humble."
Words are powerful because they carry energy, sound, and frequency, which are some of the building “blocks” of matter. ... Words are like swords because they can be used to harm you. In a way, words are more powerful than swords for the reason that they can harm or heal you at the deepest levels of your being.
Words are more than elements of speech or writing. When spoken out loud, words transform into frequency and vibration that can be used to harness energy and harm or heal the body.

*Why Words are More Powerful than Swords*

Words are powerful because they carry energy, sound, and frequency, which are some of the building “blocks” of matter. Furthermore, they carry information that can be used as knowledge to create or destroy things. When this knowledge is turned into wisdom, it becomes very powerful and can be used to expand a person’s consciousness and spiritual powers. This is why knowledge is power!
Did you notice that the term words is an anagram for the term sword? Switch the letter “s” in the term words to the front and you get the term sword. Words are like swords because they can be used to harm you. In a way, words are more powerful than swords for the reason that they can harm or heal you at the deepest levels of your being.
So as you engage yourselves today, may your words be seasoned with salt. Use them to refresh, uplift, encourage and comfort others....

Especially now mind your word's, and choose your words carefully....

Hope you learnt...

Thanks🙏
