School to resume on the 5th of March for the 2022/2023 academic session

There are some changes on the memo earlier released by the University Management.
The following group of persons have been exempted from vacating the hostels;

>>>Foreign Students
>>>Postgraduate Students
>>>Final year Students who are preparing for their project defense

Any other students outside this category are advised to vacate the hostel on or before 10th, February 2023.

An 100 level student of philosophy got hit this afternoon by a moving vehicle at first mechanic junction when she was going to school to write her GES exam.



She was rushed to UPTH, we pray earnestly that the Lord will save her.



However, the report reaching us this evening has it that she needs 4 pints of blood.

STUDENTS' UNION GOVERNMENT, UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT GETS NEW EXECUTIVES.

Today the 2nd day of February 2023, the management of university of Port Harcourt ably led by her amiable Vice Chancellor Prof Owunari Abraham Georgewill inaugurated the new student body(SUG) after her election on the 14th day of January 2023.

The inauguration which was done by the deputy Vice Chancellor administration Prof Clifford Offurum who represented the Vice Chancellor on the occasion of the inauguration.

The ceremony/inauguration was done at the instance of the dean of student affairs Dr Chima Wokocha, Dr Sunday Edum, associate dean male and now emeritus SUG president Comrade Gift Ubabuike with other past students leaders and stakeholders present to witness the smooth transition of government.

300-level FUTA student ends it all over fra¥d allegations

A 300-level student of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Ondo State, Oluwapelumi Joseph Olona, has passed on.

The student of the Department of Industrial Design ended it all inside his room at the Aule area of Akure and his body was found in the early hours of Saturday, January 21, 2023, after his close friends forced the door open.

Multiple sources revealed that his action might not be unconnected with d£pr£ssion and financial constraints which he battled with.

A friend of the deceased, Omoniyi Enoch, who spoke with the Union of Campus Journalists of FUTA, said the deceased had a financial misappropriation issue with his Department because he was the Financial Secretary until his demise.

“When school resumed for the 2021/2022 session, the Treasurer of the Department wasn’t around to receive payment for dues so Joseph (Olona) decided to do it on his behalf. The President later requested that he should send N100,000 to him for a Departmental project. He sent it using his digital bank. He was debited but the President didn’t receive the payment.

Several emails were sent to the bank but the issue wasn’t resolved. Due to that, he was so pressured about it and everyone secluded him. He hasn’t attended lectures since we got back from the Christmas break because of the pressure,” Enoch said.

He added, “Yesterday morning, I went to get my phone from him because his phone is faulty and we both shared my phone. He informed me that his HOD called his daddy and said he engaged in fra¥d. He was very disturbed about it.”

Meanwhile, spokesperson of the State Police Command,Funmi Odunlami, confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday, January 21, 2023.
