*RUGIPO Don Shines at National Entomological Conference*

Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO), has once again recorded another remarkable feat on the national stage as Dr. Jacobs Mobolade Adesina, a distinguished academic staff member from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, has been elected as the National Assistant Secretary/Public Relations Officer of the Entomological Society of Nigeria (ESN).

The election took place during the 54th Annual Conference of the Entomological Society of Nigeria, held at the University of Jos (UNIJOS), Plateau State, from October 2 – 4, 2025. The conference, which had the theme “Harnessing Innovations for Health, Food Security, and Insect Conservation,” brought together renowned entomologists, researchers, and scientists from across the country to deliberate on emerging trends and innovations in entomology and related disciplines.

The newly elected national officers of the Society are:

President: Prof. G. S. Mwansat

Vice President: Dr. Udoka C. Nwangwu

National Secretary: Prof. Olusegun A. Lawal, FZSN, FESN

Treasurer: Prof. H. M. Bandiya, FESN

Business Manager: Dr. Akeweta S. E.

Assistant Secretary/Public Relations Officer: Dr. J. M. Adesina

Dr. Adesina’s emergence as a national officer of this prestigious professional body is a testament to his dedication, academic excellence, and active involvement in advancing the frontiers of entomological research and practice in Nigeria.

His election has brought honour and recognition to Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, further reinforcing the institution’s growing reputation as a centre of excellence in teaching, research, and professional development.
