CONDOLENCE MESSAGE FROM OHSOSA

The Owo High School Old Students Association (OHSOSA) mourns the transition of High Chief Olanrewaju Famakinwa, The Ojumu of Ọ̀ghọ̀ Kingdom.

High Chief Famakinwa was a distinguished elder, a pillar of the ancient Owo Kingdom, a prominent kingmaker, and the revered head of the Igboroko quarters in Owo. His wisdom, service, and commitment to tradition and community development remain indelible.

We especially commiserate with his widow, Mrs. Timbọ Famakinwa, a devout alumna of our great alma mater and one of the coordinators of the Class of 1969. Her loss is our collective loss.

On behalf of the National Executive and the entire OHSOSA family worldwide, we extend our heartfelt condolences to:
- The Ojumu family
- His Royal Majesty, the Kabiyesi Ọlọghọ of Ọghọ
- All Ọghọ sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora

May the Almighty God grant the family, the Igboroko quarters, and the Ọ̀ghọ̀ Kingdom the fortitude to bear this great loss. May his noble soul rest in perfect peace.

TO ALL MEMBERS OF OHSOSA

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Engr Ibidapo Ojo as a Permanent Secretary by the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, announced earlier this month.

Engr Ibidapo Ojo, a proud member of the 1990 set, is from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Ondo State. He has consistently demonstrated commitment and dedication to our association. This prestigious appointment is a testament to his hard work and expertise.

We are awaiting the inauguration date, which will be communicated by the Governor's office in due course.

We congratulate Engr Ibidapo Ojo on this remarkable achievement and wish him success in his new role.

Members are encouraged to join us in congratulating and wishing him well.

Report on Unannounced Visit to Owo High School

On 15th January, 2026, a delegation of OHSOSA National Executives, comprising Mr. Adebola Olowo (Secretary), Prince Samuel O. Aladetuyi(PRO), and Mr. Gbenga Olawolu (Welfare Officer), made an unannounced visit to Owo High School. The purpose was to assess the school's situation following reports of a security breach.

The delegation found that students had intentionally pulled down the school fence in two locations: near the Corpers Lodge and at the rear of the basketball court. One student was apprehended and implicated others, including some not registered with the school.

Key observations:

- Most OHSO students are well-behaved and maintain good personal hygiene.
- Unregistered individuals, often unkempt, were present on school premises.
- The Principal confirmed the student caught was not registered, highlighting security lapses.

The delegation addressed SS2 and SS3 students, emphasizing the importance of:
- Protecting school properties and image
- Maintaining good conduct
- Focusing on academics
- Not tolerating destructive behavior among peers

Recommendations:

- Strengthen measures to prevent unauthorized access.
- Enhance monitoring and supervision.

The Principal acknowledged these concerns and pledged to address them. We commend the school's efforts and encourage improvement.

We are proud of OHSO's good students and teachers and look forward to positive changes.

Report on the 70th Birthday Thanksgiving of Mr. Joseph Olusola Oloye

We are pleased to report that the 70th birthday thanksgiving celebration of our esteemed alumnus, Mr. Joseph Olusola Oloye, took place on December 21st, 2025. A member of the illustrious 1975 "Unique Set", Mr. Oloye is a dedicated servant-leader who has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the growth and development of our association, school, and community.

As a retired Director of the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC), Mr. Oloye has leveraged his influence to support and uplift our members, leveraging his position to make a positive impact. His unwavering support and encouragement have been a beacon of inspiration to our current executive team, and his presence at our events is always a testament to his enduring commitment.

The Thanksgiving service was held at The Methodist Church Cathedral, Fajuyi Road, Owo, and was attended by friends, family, and well-wishers. A reception followed at his residence in GRA, Owo, where guests gathered to celebrate this milestone occasion.

We pray that God continues to strengthen Mr. Oloye and grant him many more years of service and fulfillment.
