Like all you do is pour out constantly while you feel drained and underappreciated sometimes.

Guess what?

You're not the only person who feels that way. And it may actually be the truth sometimes.

But it's one thing to be unseen by others and an absolutely different thing to choose to see You for You in those 'not so great' moments.

Notice I say 'choose to see You for You'.

That means that no matter the season it is you're in, you should keep yourself abreast with the consciousness of who you really are.

Not someone who has nothing noble about him/her.

But one who has enough to birth greatness for self and others!

The First Required Vulnerability in Leadership

I remember a time when I tried so hard to separate myself from my vision.

By that, I mean I wanted to create a world for myself outside of it - one where I didn’t always have to think about the dreams, the plans, and the weight that came with them.

Did it work?

Yes. But only for a while.
Because soon, I realised that my strength as a leader wasn’t in detaching from my vision but in staying vulnerably connected to it.

I needed that constant sync. That willingness to be driven by the same fire that birthed the vision in the first place.

And then it dawned on me:

One of the best ways to enjoy executing vision without pressure is to stay vulnerable to its demands.

Why?

Because when you’re deeply connected to your vision, the noise outside can’t break the bond between you and it.

So if you ever choose to be vulnerable as a leader, let it start here -

Be vulnerable to the vision before you.

Give it your attention. Let it shape you. And never lose it to the noise or the pull of other visions when you step out there.

If you really have to, then don't be afraid or ashamed to start all over again.

I understand that as leaders, most times it feels easier to just keep at what we've been doing, what we've always believed and what we've always expected.

But what happens if you really have to unlearn and begin a new set of habits, cultivate a new way of showing up etc?

You honestly need to pause and answer the question - what's the bigger bug biting?

People thinking you don't know what you're doing? Or the fear that it may not work out well?

Well, this is always my motivation, and your reminder today...

That the big things you see started little; some finally sprouted after failed attempts.

So if you're really looking forward to leading in a new way that is right, but you're scared of losing the frantic accolades that the previous ways seemed to have gathered already,

Get up!
Start over again if you must.

Just be sure it's the right path!

And for you and who's a Christian leader, your consolation should be that you're not starting from scratch per se, you're starting from God's help and grace.
