Welcome Back, Champions! πŸŽ‰πŸ“š

Our hearts are full of joy as we welcome our amazing learners back from the midterm break. The break was not only a time for rest and family bonding but also an opportunity for our pupils to explore, create, research, and learn through their various project assignments.

Today, we are proud to see them return with beautifully completed projects on different topics, showcasing their creativity, curiosity, confidence, and growing knowledge. Each project reflects the effort of our learners, the guidance of their teachers, and the support of their wonderful parents.

At our school, we believe learning goes beyond the classroom walls. These projects have helped our pupils develop critical thinking, research skills, communication, creativity, craft and a deeper understanding of the world around them. Other researches will be presented in their various classes and at the assembly ground.

We celebrate every learner for a job well done and encourage them to keep asking questions, exploring ideas, creating things and striving for excellence.

Welcome back to another exciting phase of learning, discovery, and growth. The journey continues! πŸ“–πŸŽ“

This sensorial learning activity engaged our Nursery and Basic 1 learners in a fun and interactive numeracy exercise. The children listened attentively to the number of band beats produced and responded by identifying and picking the corresponding numbers on paper.

This activity helped to strengthen their auditory discrimination skills, number recognition, concentration, and hand–eye coordination. It also made learning lively as the learners connected sound perception with numerical understanding in a playful and meaningful way.

TOXIC CLASSROOM BEHAVIORS TEACHERS MUST AVOID

A classroom is not only a place of instruction but also a space for shaping character, confidence, and lifelong learning. The behavior of a teacher plays a major role in either building or breaking a learner’s motivation. To maintain a healthy and productive learning environment, teachers must consciously avoid certain toxic practices.

1. Lack of Lesson Preparation Before Teaching:
Teaching without adequate preparation leads to confusion, poor delivery, and loss of learner interest. A well-prepared lesson ensures clarity, confidence, proper time management, and effective understanding of the subject matter.

2. Favouritism Among Learners:
Showing preference to certain pupils creates division, resentment, and low self-esteem among others. Every child deserves equal attention, encouragement, and fair treatment regardless of ability or background.

3. Correcting Learners in a Disgraceful Manner:
Disciplining or correcting a child in a humiliating way damages confidence and discourages participation. Correction should be done respectfully, constructively, and privately where necessary to preserve the learner’s dignity.

4. Emotional Outbursts in Front of Learners:
Teachers are expected to maintain emotional control in the classroom. Outbursts such as shouting in anger or expressing frustration inappropriately can create fear, instability, and loss of respect among learners.

5. Negative or Discouraging Language:
Words have lasting impact. Constant use of negative expressions such as insults, comparisons, or discouraging remarks can damage a child’s motivation and self-worth. Teachers should instead use positive reinforcement to inspire growth and confidence.

Let us remain mindful that every interaction in the classroom contributes to shaping the future of our learners. Professionalism, patience, and positivity must always guide our conduct....

Communication becomes more powerful when it is accessible to everyone.

As the School Director delivered her remarks during our Mid-Term Teachers' Workshop, our talented corps member skillfully interpreted the message through sign language, ensuring inclusiveness and effective communication for all.

Together, we are promoting a culture of learning, accessibility, and equal opportunities for everyone. πŸ€πŸ“š

Someone I know is waiting for me to give up all my dreams

He has given me the list on how to live my life and answer his wife. He has given me no option but to obey all his desires and needs.

From what I wrote, you can tell that I am talking about β€œMy husband”.

He is the only man who has watched me rise to this level before we got married but right now he is the one giving me two options β€œTo choose my dreams and divorce him without our children” or β€œTo stay to watch him rise to his zenith”.

I have gone too far to quit.

I have worked for many schools, gathered experience, mentored, gone for many trainings, earned degrees and qualifications to have and build my school.

But right now I am faced with options to choose!!!

πŸ‘†πŸ‘†πŸ‘†
That could be someone’s story!!!

To be on a safer side β€œRun an online School”

πŸ“š HOW TO RUN AN ONLINE SCHOOL (From My Experience and Research as an Educator)

One thing I have realized is that education is no longer limited to four classroom walls.

Today, a teacher in Port Harcourt can teach a child in Lagos, Abuja, Ghana, Kenya, or even the UK without leaving home.

The question is:

How do you successfully run an online school?

Here are some things I have learned:

1. Start With a Clear Vision

Before opening an online school, ask yourself:

βœ”οΈ What age group do I want to teach?

βœ”οΈ What subjects or skills will I offer?

βœ”οΈ What problem am I solving?

Parents don’t just pay for lessons; they pay for results.

2. Choose the Right Platform

Your online school needs a classroom.

You can use:

πŸ“Œ Zoom

πŸ“Œ Google Meet

πŸ“Œ Microsoft Teams

πŸ“Œ WhatsApp

πŸ“Œ Telegram

πŸ“Œ Learning Management Systems (LMS)

Choose a platform that is easy for both learners and parents to use.

3. Create Engaging Lessons

One mistake many online teachers make is trying to teach online exactly the way they teach physically.

Online learners need:

βœ… Visuals

βœ… Games

βœ… Videos

βœ… Interactive activities

βœ… Discussions

The more engaging your lessons are, the more learners stay interested.

4. Build a Strong Curriculum

A successful online school is not built on random lessons.

Have:

βœ”οΈ Weekly plans

βœ”οΈ Monthly goals

βœ”οΈ Assessments

βœ”οΈ Progress reports

Parents love to see evidence that learning is taking place.

5. Communicate With Parents

For children’s online classes, parents are your partners.

Send:

πŸ“Œ Class updates

πŸ“Œ Homework

πŸ“Œ Feedback

πŸ“Œ Progress reports

A parent who feels involved is more likely to continue paying for your services.

6. Build Your Online Presence

People cannot enroll in a school they do not know exists.

Use:

πŸ“± Facebook

πŸ“± TikTok

πŸ“± Instagram

πŸ“± WhatsApp Status

πŸ“± YouTube

Share educational content consistently.

Let people see your expertise before asking them to buy from you.

7. Price Your Services Correctly

Many educators undercharge because they are afraid of losing clients.

Remember:

You are not selling Zoom meetings.

You are selling knowledge, transformation, and educational support.

Charge according to the value you provide.

8. Keep Learning

Technology changes every day.

A successful online educator learns about:

βœ”οΈ AI tools

βœ”οΈ Digital teaching methods

βœ”οΈ Educational technology

βœ”οΈ Online marketing

The more you grow, the more your school grows.

My Final Thoughts

The future of education is hybrid.

Teachers who learn how to teach online today are positioning themselves for bigger opportunities tomorrow.

Whether you are teaching literacy, mathematics, literature, coding, music, special education, or vocational skills, there is room for you in the online education space.
