Do you know that today is International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Ge***al Mutilation, February 6th!!!

Every girl should be able to grow up in safety, learn, and fully exercise and enjoy her rights. Yet, for millions of girls, female ge***al mutilation, a practice that violates their physical integrity continues to affect their health, well-being, and dignity. These practices are neither cultural nor traditional. They constitute a serious violation of human rights and a form of gender-based violence, with lasting consequences that undermine access and completion of education, restrict opportunities, and weigh on girls’ futures throughout their lives.

While progress has been made over recent decades and support for the abandonment of these harmful practices is growing in several regions, these gains remain fragile. Declining funding and pressure on education, health, and protection systems weaken prevention efforts and expose the most vulnerable even further.

‎Today, the library was richly blessed with a prayer session to start the new year. The gathering which was ably led by the University Librarian Dr. Mrs. Justina Ekere marked a significant spiritual moment for the library. Anchored on the theme “Abiding in Christ (John 15:1-5), the Head of Department, Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology, Reverend G.S. Adaka delivered a profound and inspiring exhortation on the importance of abiding in Christ as the foundation for fruitfulness, wisdom, peace, and excellence. He emphasized that just as branches cannot bear fruit unless they remain connected to the vine, so also our work, scholarship, and service can only thrive when rooted in Christ.
‎Highlights of the prayer session was the anointing of the library, committing the staff and services to God and declaring it a place of productivity and positive transformation.

It was a beautiful moment today as members of the FUTO Library family gathered to felicitate with the University Librarian in commemoration of her birthday which was on the 15th of June. We thank God for adding another year to her and pray for more fruitful, glorious, healthy and wealthy years. Happy birthday once again to a woman with a heart of gold 🥳🥳🥳🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️

The FUTO Library hosted final year Library and Information Science Students from the Imo State University Owerri on 3rd June 2024. Highlights of the day was an interactive session anchored by Dr. Mrs. Nkeiru Emezie and Dr. Ijeoma Bernard. The students had a good tour of the library to enrich their theoretical and practical knowledge.

An interactive session on the Information Literacy Module was held today to gear up for the ILS course. It was an interesting moment for the FUTO Library academic staff who were on ground to share knowledge, familiarize with the different modules and learn from one another. We thank the University Librarian, Dr. Mrs. Justina Ekere for providing the platform for this wonderful interaction.
