Day 8: The Power of SMART Goals for Business Success
Welcome back, ambitious entrepreneurs!
Today, we want to explore the power of strategic planning via the setting of SMART goals.
In business, goals are not just aspirations nor wishful thinking; they're actionable targets that propel your business forward with purpose and precision.
But in case this is new to you, let's answer the key question, "What exactly are SMART goals?"
Here, I will break it down:
S - Specific
M- Measurable
A- Attainable or Achievable
R- Relevant
T- Time-bound
Specific: You need to clearly define what you want to achieve as an entrepreneur.
Vague goals lead to confusion and vague outcomes, but specific goals lead to desirable results. So you must be specific about what success looks like for your business.
Measurable: When you set a goal to succeed in your business, how do you know you have achieved that success you desire?
There has to be a metric.
You need to establish metrics to track your progress and evaluate success. The metrics should be clearly defined and measurable. Without measurable criteria, it's difficult to gauge whether you're on track to achieve your goals or not.
Achievable: Even though it is highly recommended that you set goals that will challenge and stretch you, it is also important to ensure that those goals are attainable. Stretch yourself, but be realistic about what you can accomplish given your resources, skills, and constraints per time.
Relevant: You have to ensure that your goals align with your overall business objectives and priorities. In setting goals, you have to focus on what matters most to your success.
Time-bound: Set deadlines to create a sense of urgency and accountability.
A timeframe gives your goals structure and helps you stay focused on ex*****on.
I will give you an example of how to set a SMART goal.
Imagine yourself to be a budding entrepreneur launching a catering business specializing in healthy Nigerian cuisine.
Instead of setting a vague goal like "I want to grow my business," You should rather set a SMART goal which reads "I want to increase my monthly revenue by 20% within six months by expanding my catering services to corporate clients and launching a line of packaged meals for busy professionals."
By setting a SMART goal, you have a clear roadmap for action, measurable benchmarks for success, and a deadline to keep you accountable.
So, what SMART goals will you set for your business today?
What will you like to achieve in your business in the next six months or one year?
Share your goals or aspirations in the comments below – let's inspire each other to aim high and achieve more.

Day 7: Choosing the Right Marketing Channels for Your Business
Here we go again, dear entrepreneurs and intending entrepreneurs!
Today, we're diving into the exciting world of marketing channels – they are the pathways through which you'll connect with your target audience and drive engagements for your business.
With an unending list of marketing channels available, from social media and email marketing to traditional advertising and influencer partnerships, choosing the right ones can sometimes feel overwhelming.
But fear not!
By understanding your audience's preferences and behaviours, you can strategically select the channels that will yield the greatest results for your business.
Imagine you are a tech entrepreneur, with an idea of a new mobile app that connects dispatch riders to customers looking to send parcels to different destinations. Imagine your target audience are Nigerian Gen-Zs. Won't it be f00.lish to go about marketing this app on NTA?
Of course, it will.
Your target audience actually spend a significant amount of their time on social media platforms like Facebook, Tiktok, Instagram, and Twitter. So the right thing to do is simply focus your marketing efforts on these channels, leveraging visually appealing content and influencer collaborations to generate buzz and drive downloads for the app.
When selecting your marketing channels, always be careful to consider factors such as your target audience's demographics, online behaviour, and preferred communication channels.
You can experiment with different platforms and tactics to determine which ones resonate most with your audience and deliver the best return on investment.
Stay tuned for tomorrow's post, where we'll explore the importance of setting SMART goals for your business to drive focused and measurable results.

Day 6: The Power of Persuasion: Crafting Compelling Marketing Messages
Welcome back, my aspiring entrepreneurs!
Today, we're delving into the art of persuasive communication – a skill that's essential for capturing the attention and hearts of your target audience.
In a world filled with marketing messages here and there, it's crucial to cut through the noise and stand out with messages that are unique and resonate deeply with your audience.
But how do you craft compelling marketing messages that not only capture attention but also inspire the audience to take action?
I will share.
First and foremost, you need to understand your audience's pain points, desires, and aspirations.
You need to understand what keeps them up at night when others are sleeping?
You need to know what their hopes and dreams are?
By speaking directly to their needs and emotions, you'll establish a powerful connection that compels them to take action.
When crafting your marketing messages, don't forget the power of storytelling.
Share authentic stories that resonate with your audience's experiences and aspirations.
Whether it is through testimonials, case studies, or personal experiences, storytelling humanizes your brand and builds trust with your audience.
Stay tuned for tomorrow's post, where we'll explore the importance of choosing the right marketing channels to reach your target audience effectively.
Meanwhile, share your favorite marketing messages or storytelling tips in the comments below – let's inspire each other to communicate with impact!
Day 5: Identifying Your Target Audience
Welcome back, dear entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs!
Today, we're shifting our focus to one of the most critical aspects of business success: knowing your target audience fully.
One of the biggest mistakes most young entrepreneurs make at the developmental stage of their business is to assume they can sell to everybody.
In fact, when you go for any entrepreneurship competition and you answer 'everybody' when asked about your target audience, it is an automatic failure.
You must have a specific group you want to sell to.
And guess what!
Your target audience isn't just a demographic; they're the heartbeat of your business – they represent the individuals whose needs, desires, and pain points you're dedicated to addressing.
By understanding who they are, what they value, and where they spend their time, you'll be better equipped to tailor your products or services to meet their specific needs.
So, how can you identify your target audience?
This isn't really a difficult one.
Start by defining your ideal customer persona. This means a semi-fictional representation of your ideal customer based on demographics, psychographics, and behavioral traits.
When you see your ideal customer, will you be able to recognise him or her?
Consider factors such as age, gender, location, interests, purchasing habits, and purchasing power to create a detailed profile that guides your marketing efforts.
Stay tuned for tomorrow's post, where we'll explore the art of crafting compelling marketing messages that resonate with your target audience.
Share your thoughts on identifying your target audience in the comments below – let's learn from each other's insights and experiences!

Day 4: Understanding Market Research
First, I want to appreciate everyone who has followed this series.
My hope is that you will launch your own business after this 60 days.
Today is DAY 4, and we're diving into the world of market research.
Market research is a crucial step in validating your business idea and understanding the needs of your target audience.
Market research isn't just about gathering data; it's about gaining insights that will inform strategic decisions and set your business up for success.
By understanding market trends, consumer behaviour, and competitive landscapes, you'll be better equipped to identify opportunities and mitigate risks. Remember that entrepreneurship is all about being able to seize opportunities.
Imagine you are an aspiring entrepreneur with a passion for healthy living. I would advise that before launching your organic food delivery service, you should conduct extensive market research to assess demand, identify key competitors, and understand consumer preferences. All these will form a part of your business plan.
Armed with such valuable insights, you will be able to tailor your offerings to meet the needs of health-conscious Nigerians, carving out a niche in the competitive market.
So, how can you conduct effective market research for your business?
This is simple.
Just start by defining your research objectives, selecting appropriate methods (such as surveys, focus groups, or interviews), and analyzing data gotten to uncover actionable insights.
Stay tuned for tomorrow's post, where we'll delve deeper into identifying your target audience and crafting compelling marketing strategies.
But for now, you might want to share your experiences with market research in the comments below – let's learn from each other's insights and experiences!
DAY 3: Turning Passion into Profitable Idea.
From Passion to Profit: Crafting Your Business Idea.
Welcome back, dear entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs!
Yesterday, we talked about how to tap into the power of passion. Today, we are going to see how to channel that energy into actionable business ideas.
After all, passion is the spark, but a solid business idea is the fuel that drives your entrepreneurial journey forward.
But how do you transform abstract passion into concrete business opportunities? That is the big question before us today.
It starts with identifying market needs and solving pressing problems that align with that passion.
I remember the case of a lady, named Ifeoma, who served with us in Sokoto some 12 years ago.
Ifeoma happened to be not just a corper but a visionary entrepreneur. So, she noticed the lack of affordable and accessible healthcare services in the community she served in Bodiga local government area.
Drawing from her background in healthcare, and her passion for social impact, Ifeoma founded a small medicine store with the innovation of connecting patients with virtual consultations, thereby revolutionizing healthcare delivery in that community.
Today, that business has metamorphosed to a private clinic, employing both doctors and nurses.
As for you, all you need is to take a moment to brainstorm potential business ideas, inspired by your passions and the needs of your target audience.
Ask yourself what problems you can solve with your love for food.
What value can you create with your love for fashion?
What opportunities can you create with the way you love to travel?
Is there any way you can create wealth with your love for social media and pressing of phone?
Take a plane sheet of paper and biro, and do the thinking on paper.
Remember, the best business ideas often arise from a combination of passion, purpose, and market demand - particularly MARKET DEMAND. That tells you that passion is not enough.
Stay tuned for tomorrow's post, where we'll explore the importance of market research in validating your business idea and identifying your target audience.

DAY 2: IDENTIFYING YOUR PASSION
Today, we're diving deep into the heart of entrepreneurship on this 60-day journey to starting your own business.
And we are considering a very important character of every successful entrepreneur - passion.
At the core of every successful business lies a driving force – a passion that ignites the entrepreneurial spirit and fuels relentless determination.
It is near impossible for a business driven by passion not to succeed.
But the great question is;
How do you uncover this elusive passion?
1. It starts with introspection. Take a moment to reflect on your interests, your hobbies, and your values.
What are those things that make your heart sing?
What issues or problems do you feel deeply compelled to solve?
Before I proceed, permit me to share a little story with you.
There is this young guy I used to know by the name Chinedu.
He graduated from one of the federal universities as an engineer with fantastic results.
However, three years after NYSC, Chinedu was still searching for the elusive oil company job that school had proomised him.
But school aside, Chinedu has a deep love for fashion and anything design.
One day, Chinedu sat down and asked himself this difficult question, "Three years post-NYSC, no job. Where do I go from here?"
A thorough SWOT analysis of himself led him to consider pursuing his passion for fashion design.
That was how he launched his own clothing line, showcasing the vibrant culture and heritage of Nigeria using social media.
By tapping into his passion, Chinedu not only found fulfilment but also carved out a unique niche in the competitive fashion industry.
Remember, when it comes to entrepreneurship, passion isn't just about unrealistic and fleeting interests but about being able to align your talents and values with meaningful pursuits that can solve problems profitably.
No matter how passionate you are about anything, if it can't bring you profit, then it is not a business.
So, take the time to explore your passions, embrace your uniqueness, and dare to dream big.
Now, do you want to know how Chinedu was able to move from that passion to a business employing over 15 staff with a monthly revenue of over 30M naira?
Then stay tuned for tomorrow's post, where we'll delve into the next step on our entrepreneurial journey: transforming passion into a viable business idea.
Yes, there is a way to do it, and I will share.
But for now, I would like you to share your own passions in the comments below, and let's inspire each other to reach new heights! 🔥
What are you passions?

Who is ready for this?
I just learnt from Juliet that you can profitably run your own bread brand, without actually owning a bakery or even having any knowledge of bread production.
And it makes absolute sense.
Just go to a bakery, tell them to produce a particular quantity for you without labels.
Produce your own labels, using your brand name, package it and start selling.
If you have a strong brand in a particular environment, or even online, you may end up selling more than the company producing it for you.
This is not a time to sell vitamins. Sell Pain Killers.
In the midst of economic turmoil, Nigeria and Nigerians face unprecedented challenges.
The ever increasing cost of living (which is now threatening to kill the living) has left many struggling to make ends meet, with the usual sources of income we knew proving insufficient.
Civil servants and fixed income earners appear to be the most hit; but then, they are at least guaranteed of a paycheck at the end of each month.
And what about entrepreneurs and digital product creators?
They find themselves at crossroads, wondering how to adapt their offerings to meet the pressing needs of the masses.
In a time like this, the demand shifts from luxury to necessity.
While selling what I call 'vitamins'—nice-to-have products—may have been lucrative in more prosperous times, the current climate calls for a different approach.
Now is the time to focus on creating and selling pain killers—products that address immediate needs and alleviate the hardships faced by the masses.
So, what exactly are painkillers?
These are solutions that provide relief in the face of challenges, offering tangible benefits that resonate with the struggles people are experiencing daily.
Here are a few examples that anyone can easily create:
1. Food Security Initiatives: I once attempted to start a business I called "FOOD FIRST." And truly, it is food first.
We can discuss every other thing once someone has eaten.
So the first concern of everyone right now is how to eat. Unfortunately, food isn't quite affordable in most cities.
So, as the cost of food continues to rise, initiatives that promote food security and sustainable agriculture now need serious attention.
Entrepreneurs like Zuby Ace should be thinking of how to develop platforms that connect rural farmers with consumers everywhere.
You can also think of food sharing initiatives (gather 14 women in a WhatsApp Group, each person pays 5k, and you put it together and buy a bag of rice and share).
You can do the same thing with tomatoes, crayfish, onions, goat, etc.
2. Budgeting and Financial Management Tools: With finances stretched thin, individuals and families need effective tools to manage their budgets, track expenses, and prioritize spending. Creating a simple WhatsApp Group where you simplify financial management and become a sort of financial advisor and accountability partner can be invaluable in helping people navigate this tough time.
If you charge 2k monthly per person to render these services, you might get as much as 500 sign-ups.
That is a sure N1M each month in the bag.
3. Job Search and Skill Development Platforms: As unemployment rates (especially in terms of conventional jobs) continue to rise, there is a growing need to connect those without jobs with opportunities that abound elsewhere.
But sometimes, there is a need for skill upgrade to be able to secure those jobs.
As an entrepreneur, you can develop online courses, workshops, or job search portals that can position people for ready-made jobs in the short-term.
Nobody will say no to an opportunity that brings immediate reward in a time like this.
This is what we are offering with the programme 30 DAYS' ONE MILLION NAIRA INCOME CHALLENGE.
4. Healthcare Access Solutions: After food, the next thing people must pay for, no matter how much the economy bites, is healthcare.
No one can afford to neglect his or her health because there is no money.
But they will always want to ask if there are more affordable alternatives anywhere as long as they will be effective.
As an entrepreneur with medical expertise, you should be providing that affordable alternative.
You can develop telemedicine platforms, health insurance comparison tools, or informational resources to help individuals make informed healthcare decisions, without breaking the bank.
Chukwuma Anurunkem is already offering something close in partnership with a team of specialist doctors.
5. Affordable Housing Solutions: With housing costs on the rise, there is a demand for innovative solutions that provide affordable housing options. Entrepreneurs can explore models such as rent-to-own schemes, micro-housing projects, or communal living arrangements to address this pressing need.
These are really the pain points for most Nigerians, and they will not say no to pain killers.
There will always be the Tony Elumelus and the Cubanas of this world, who can afford to have lunch in Sheraton everyday.
But the majority are looking for ways to succeed, and if you offer these to them, they will have money by force.
My name is Kachi Ogbonna.
02/02/2024
This nearly broke my heart, and I had to grant this request immediately.
Unfortunately, Nigeria has not been fair to Civil Servants.
I always use my mother-in-law as an example.
She is a teacher, teaching in a school run by a federal government agency.
As at the time I came to know her in 2015, her salary was 30k, and a bag of rice was 8k then.
That salary of hers didn't change for years.
At a time, a bag of rice was 35k. She was still earning 30k salary.
Transportation to school has more than tripled, too.
If not for her fashion design business, only God knows what would have become of her.
I have people who joined Cohort 1 of our challenge, heavily in debt. Almost all of them are Civil Servants.
But today, we have testimonies of those of them who have cleared their debts; some, as much as N1.5M.
So, I clearly understand what this fellow is saying, and I will grant it.
Though I can't afford to do 50% now, 40% is still a big waiver.
So, instead of 50k, for the next three days, registration is open to CIVIL SERVANTS ONLY, at the rate of 30k only.
I pray some of them are able to take advantage of this.
You can share, or tag any civil servant you know.
