The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved FULL ACCREDITATION status for 34 Imo State University programmes.
The approval was contained in a letter from NUC, addressed to the Vice Chancellor of Imo State, dated 6th June 2024, with reference number NUC/ES/412/VOL.14/361, signed by Engr. Abraham Chundusu, The Acting Director of Accreditation, for Executive Secretary, reads in parts:- "In line with section 10(1) of the Education Act, CAP E3, Law of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, the Commission organized the Accreditation of academic programmes at Imo State University, Owerri, in October/November 2023. The result of the exercise is as follows:"

2). Banking and Finance - FULL
3). Business Management - FULL
4). Marketing - FULL
5). Hospitality and Tourism Management - FULL
6). Medical Laboratory Science - FULL
7). Nursing Science - FULL
8). Public Health - FULL
9). English and Literary Studies - FULL
10). French - FULL
11). Linguistics Igbo - FULL
12). Theater Arts - FULL
13). Education Chemistry - FULL
14). Education Economics - FULL
15). Education English - FULL
16). Education French - FULL
17). Education Geography - FULL
18). Education Government - FULL
19). Education History - FULL
20). Education Mathematics - FULL
21). Education Physics - FULL
22). Education Guidance and Counseling - FULL
23). Library and Information Science - FULL

This implies that the FULL ACCREDITATION STATUS of the above 34 programmes at Imo State University is valid for 5 years.
