Welcome to dysgraphia series

Now, let's face it...

What do you know about dysgraphia?

When it comes to writing and developing handwriting, all young children struggle. However, if your child's handwriting is continuously deformed or imprecise, it could be due to dysgraphia, a learning problem.

This is a disorder with the nervous system that affects the fine motor skills required for writing. It makes handwriting chores and assignments difficult for a child.

This illness is referred to as "a impairment in written expression" by health insurance and the majority of clinicians.

But what causes this disorder?

Scientists are baffled as to why kids develop dysgraphia. It's sometimes linked to a brain injury in adults, such as a stroke. This learning problem frequently coexists with other learning difficulties in children, such as ADHD and dyslexia.

But, do not fret. There is a solution to every problem. All you need to do first is to be able to spot the problem and if it isn't what you can fix, visit the experts.

Dyslexia versus Dysgraphia

Is it possible to suffer both at the same time?

Learning differences such as dyslexia and dysgraphia exist.

Reading is the most common symptom of dyslexia.

Dysgraphia is a type of dyslexia that affects primarily the ability to write.

Despite the fact that they are two separate issues, it's easy to get them mixed up.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)–inattentive, hyperactive, or combination inattentive and hyperactive subtypes–may be present in children with impaired handwriting.

Children with this type of dysgraphia may benefit from a combination of explicit handwriting training and stimulant medicine, but an accurate diagnosis of ADHD by a skilled expert is required, as is ongoing monitoring of response to both teaching and medication.

Dysgraphia can arise on its own or in combination with dyslexia (reduced reading ability) or a learning deficit in both spoken and written language (OWL LD, also referred to as selective language impairment, SLI).

It is crucial to understand the difference between the 2 disorders to help you help a child accurately.

Letter From A Child With Learning Disability

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I go through a lot, especially emotionally and psychologically. I understand you might not know this, but I think this is an opportunity for you to learn how I feel as a child with a learning disability.

I didn't choose this, but it has happened to me. Would you please read this and learn about what I go through and how it feels like?

WHAT IS IT LIKE TO HAVE A LEARNING DISABILITY?

A learning disability (LD) is a neurological disorder caused by a difference in how a person's brain is formed compared to most people.

A child with a learning disability may experience difficulty in:

Reading,
Writing,
Spelling,
Thinking,
Recalling, and
Organizing.

Although learning disabilities are not curable or reversible, they can succeed even academically with the proper knowledge.

People with learning disabilities, on the other hand, can excel in school and go on to have successful professions with the correct help and intervention.

One unique thing about people with learning difficulties is that they frequently think outside the box, identifying solutions to challenges that others might overlook.

Also, people with learning disabilities bring a wide range of capabilities and problem-solving approaches to the table.

Parents and teachers, can you see that there are a lot of potentials embedded in me? But if you don't understand me, you might neglect me.

will continue to enlighten you more on issues related to me. Follow and stay connected for more insights.

Why A Child Suffers Learning Difficulties

Stop shouting at that child!

You don't need to make the innocent child feel bad. They are still growing and new to the world. You, as an adult, should be able to help the innocent child.

Do you even know why the child is finding it difficult to learn?

That is why I'm writing this to acquaint all adults with this basic knowledge about learning disorders. The truth is there is always a reason for everything.

So, what are the causes of difficulties?

There are a variety of reasons why a child may struggle to learn.

Although the causes aren't easily recognized, many children have a parent or relative who has the same or similar learning and thinking challenges.

Prenatal risks: Learning difficulties have been associated with poor uterine growth (severe intrauterine growth restriction), prenatal exposure to alcohol or drugs, early birth, and low birth weight.

Psychological trauma: Early childhood psychological trauma or abuse can affect brain development and raise learning difficulties.

Environmental factor: Toxic exposure, such as lead exposure, has been related to increased learning difficulties.

a childhood injury or disease (for example, head injury, lead poisoning, a childhood illness like meningitis)

Regardless of what is causing your child's learning issues, the first step is to acknowledge that they are having difficulty and express your concerns to your child's teacher and doctor.

That is why it is good to seek knowledge. Know your child before anyone else does.
